The Inevitable Favs Reunion

I think Favs really wants to be here... i don't think he gets a full MLE offer somewhere. Andy Larsen mentioned it on his pod to and it sounds more like Favs wants in than we want him (maybe).

If we offer Ed and like $2M in cash and do a sign and trade you could offer Favs 3/23M and still have your MLE if you want to use it.

Is there any incentive for NO to want to take on Ed’s **** contract? I’m sure picks would have to be attached. They gave us 2 second rounders when we traded him their way I’m pretty sure.

Locke let it slip that Favors wants to be back in Utah today on his podcast. There's way too much smoke around this reunion lol. Jones/Larsen/Locke trifecta

Yes... we can offer cash... say 3-4 M. They will want to operate over the cap anyway so doesn’t cost them space. Gives them a free or quality vet at a minimum cost. Might require a second but that’s fine.

Just sucks for DL to have to go ask for the cash to do it. Would assume Favs takes less than the minimum too.

Wait, what? Why? And if he's taking the minimum, why do all the gymnastics to get him here?
Meant MLE... can’t take less than the minimum of course

Sure he can. He just won’t be playing basketball for it. Last I heard there was a coaching vacancy, which may get about as much backup defense production from the sidelines as we got this past year on the floor.

Ah.

And he better. If he is playing almost-exclusively at the 5, his salary should be commensurate to his contribution. In other words; he better come cheap.

I really like Favors but I think not using the backup 5 to build out the overall versatility of the roster is a straight-up mistake, ESPECIALLY if it caused us to lose Clarkson.

If we are going cheap for a backup center then I would sign Udoh. The Jazz would have beaten Denver with him in the lineup.

I see the Jazz trying to get Jae Crowder back before Favors. 45% from 3 this season, and 77% from free throws. Favors doesn't come close to those numbers.

We can get Crowder for the MLE, and Baynes for the MIN. We'd just need to trade Conley to get our 3 and D wing.

Why the **** would Crowder be going anywhere?
He will get a one year overpay from Miami... I bet Jae loves it there and he fits in quite well.

Also, we chose Dante over Jae... just saying Dante's deal could have been the filler. We missed Jae's toughness but might not have gotten JC so maybe its a wash.

I think we can make the budget work for a sign and trade. I also think there are some situations where you could play Favs with Rudy... like when we started Morgan and Rudy together... it might help free Rudy up. I think we have enough off the dribble shot making with Mike, DM, JC to keep the offense afloat. I'm talking like 4-6 minutes in some matchups.

I just think he's the safest option and if he actually wants to come here maybe the best. If we insist on starting Conley and bringing Joe off the bench it might get us the good version of Joe since he will have his pick and roll partner.

I think we can keep JC fairly easily. I don't think a lot of teams are lining up to pay him. His game is somewhat off putting to some I'm sure. Doesn't have the respect some other bench gunners do yet. Locke mentioned he loves LA but he sucked with Lebron and Clips have Lou Will. I think we are the best match with regard to money and fit.

Exactly my feelings. Just because a bad shot goes in doesn’t mean it’s a good shot.

More to the point, how the **** did Dante get a three year deal in the first place? That **** is maybe the worst unforced error in Jazz front office history, the trade for JC notwithstanding.

And Miami is still playing and winning. I echo everyone else on this, why the **** would he want to come back here?

Hey guis, we should sign Jae Crowder who is playing out of his mind, for the coolest team in the NBA, where he bought a home before even playing for them, and where he fits like a glove.

Additionally, I know Jimmy Butler is a ****ing IDIOT and huge piece of ****, but if we were feeling charitable, do you think the team that he leads to the NBA finals from total mediocrity would let us do them a favor by accepting him on our team and see if he destroys it or not? I know the Heat bent heaven and earth to get him there despite having no cap space, but it just seems like it’s not working out for them.
