What's new

The Jazz don't have much young talent...

Exum and Mitchell are both plenty athletic and both have their limitations. Exum isn't as vertically explosive and Mitchell can't elevate off 1 foot. Both struggle at playing above the rim (but some of that on Exum last year may have been because of the knee surgery recovery).

It is with a couple step start but you can jump off one or two feet. I did not watch Mitchell do the test but I am pretty sure he is one of the people who jumped off two feet.

Mitchell has never dunked off 1 foot in a game. He said so himself at the Hall of Fame interview.

No need for prescriptions. Just check draft combine, Exum's no step vertical and max vertical is below average for his size. Mitchell's is elite.

Go ahead and post it, if you really think this is the case.

Otherwise, Again, perfect post for a stat watcher who never sees these guys play.

Mitchells only hope of getting to the rim in traffic is his quickness. Dante can get to the rim much easier, even after the ACL.

Mitchell has better lateral movement now, but Dante's was better before the ACL.

I don't even know what to say. Even after the injury, Dante can get to the rim, where Mitchell is relying on quickness to get past players. Dante is way more effective at getting to the rim.

Dante can get to the rim in traffic, and put the ball over people. DM has to be quick enough to get past them.

For some reason the Jazz seem to be very reluctant to draft a 'shooter'?

There's Devin Booker. Then there's Kyle Kuzma that the Jazz were reportedly cold on because they didn't think his shooting is legit? Kuzma has been killing it for the Lakers and looks like a legit scorer for years to come for them. Instead they traded up to draft a back up center, Tony Bradley.

I mean, you've got to take a calculated risk sometime, right? Otherwise how can you get a good player? It's like how Quin keeps telling Ingles to put up 3's. If you don't put them up, how can they go in? Same thing with picking players. If you keep hesitating to draft 'shooters', then where are you gonna get them? From outer space??!?!

But truth be told, Booker is going to be hot garbage though right...
High volume guy on **** teams.

I am not picking one over other. It's just an numeric statistical fact to those who argue that Exum is more athletic.

I totally get you with DM being far more of a natural basketball athlete. He is amazingly coordinated and moves like a jackal (or something smooth and fast).

But I totally think you are trusting aesthetics too much.

Dante is as quick as you get. His first step perhaps unmatched. He can see the court and cannot be stopped getting deep into the paint. He has far more potential than any player on the team (not named Rudy) of averaging 8-10 ft attempts per night. And this team needs that desperately - would compensate for Hood having no real rim game.
