This is probably some very weird small sample size stuff, but our defensive rating is 102 (****ing elite) when Vanderbilt is sitting and a 123 (god awful) when he is playing.

That's 1 point better than the best defense when he sits, and 5 points worse than the worse defense when he plays.

I do think some of this might be very real though. JV is a good off-ball defender and makes some plays, but he's absolutely awful defending in isolation vs star types. He's in the 4th percentile (bad) in isolation defense according to NBA.com. Dude gets absolutely lit up.
Could also be the impact of Kessler.

I was excited about Vando, and his energy and rebounding have been as advertised, but if you watch him closely on defense, he's not good. He's not disciplined enough to be a good man defender and he causes some chaos, but doesn't really play good team defense either.

I'm still being super patient with everyone right now, so hopefully we see some improvement throughout the year.
That's exactly the point. He seems to have low IQ when it come to defense, look like a crazy dog sometines....

Next 2 games are the real test for me.

1/ We play at home after finally some rest .
2/ We play Knicks average team, Must win
3/ We play the Suns, best team for me with Denver at West.

Will be interesting what come out from this 2 games...

NYK's length caused the Jazz some problems. RJ + Cam + Randle put size on the perimeter, and they were able to pack in and stifle some of the Jazz's ball movement. Jazz would get in the lane, but have nowhere to go with their passes, leading to turnovers. Jazz's guards are still pretty small, and their wings don't create.

Jazz need guards and wings with more size/length and more on-ball creation. I'd love to come out of this draft with one of the Thompsons.

We need the good twin though.

Has there ever been a twin combo with both players coming in to the league and are stars? It feels like there is always one of the twins that plays well and the other is a career journeyman.

I just looked to see how/when other teams would catch up to us on games played (several have played 4 less than us), and we have a few 2 and 3 day breaks but not till January for the most part.

Unreal the schedule this team got.

Why not all 3 Thompson Twins? We have 3 picks.1669169545030.jpeg
