What's new

The Lakers, Kevin Love and the Utah Jazz

********. Unless by "they," you mean Ty Corbin who is no longer a part of this team. Dennis Lindsey said the assumption about Favors and Kanter not meshing was ridiculous and premature at least three times this year in interviews. Most recently on locker cleanout day. Kanter and Favors closed the season very strong when paired together. Also, DL stated numerous times how he thinks the core five have complimentary games to one another and how pleased he is with it. I get the impression you don't listen to his interviews on 1280, am I right?

I am not saying anyone is untouchable, but if any of them are traded, it will be in a package to acquire a franchise talent, not a crossgrade/downgrade, or over-the-hill vet.

Because if Lindsey were to want to trade Kanter he would say favors and kanter can't play together. That would make a **** ton of sense hu?

I do agree that at some point we will seriously have to consider packaging a few of these guys for a franchise talent. If we get one of the top four picks we will likely have one of the big three we will need.

Is there anyone not on this board that had Kanter pegged as an All Star?

Yes. A potential one. Kanter was drafted 3rd overall for a reason. Granted, it wasn't 2014 deep, but it wasn't 2013 weak. A young big man with his size, hands, frame, height, wingspan, athleticism (yes, Kanter is actually very athletic for his frame), footwork, rebounding instincts, shooter's touch, body fat percentage (came into the league w/ 5.9% and his since slimmed down and toned up, compared to Randle's 9.4% ), perimeter game, and desire to get better is a kind of player that rarely comes around. Big men are usually huge and slow, or skinny and weak. They can either play in the post, or they live by the 3 and nothing else. You potentially get the best of both worlds with Kanter. I suggest you go read his Draftexpress profile, so you can see how everything Kanter has struggled with so far has all been things we knew before taking him, but were, and are committed to ironing out.

There is no evidence to suggest a pending trade. When considering trades, you have to think about your situation, the other team's situation, the worth of who and what you are trading, how the other team will perceive that worth, and what your targeted outcome is. Kanter and Burks have far more value to our organization than they do to another's. We'vee seen them progressing, and we knew they were projects. The rest of the league likely sees them as unproven players on the last year of their rookie contracts, which wouldn't net much in a trade.

Our only real trade assets from the player side of things is someone like Favors, because he was our most efficient player this year (when I've pointed this out before, you've assumed I'm saying thus he'll be traded), or someone like Trey who is in the first year of his rookie contract and had a solid year, or someone like Gobert who many other coaches have commented on liking (and is in his first year). Players like Hayward, Kanter, and Burks aren't appealing trade assets right now. Hayward will be once again if we end up inking him, and Burks could be too if we extend him this summer after considers his solid campaign this year. Kanter was up and down, but finished strong, but is also far away from his long term value. Selling low is never a good business sttrategy.

They all could be traded at some point.

Agree with the latter paragraph. And by saying I think DL will trade for a vet, I'm always referring to an Okur/Boozer type player, not a Tinsley/JLIII clone. DL HAD expressed concern in the past. I know what he has said, but Kanter and Favors have NOT shown they can even play substandard defense when they're on the court together. They are abysmal! We'll see how they do under a different coach. Lindsey certainly would not trade Kanter when his value is so low...unless he does pull off a deal for an all-star quality player.

Do you have. Link to anyone not on this board or paid by the Jazz who views Kanter as a potential All Star?

The draft express profile was written years ago. I want a link of a recent source who is outside of Jazz land, who thinks Kanter can be an All Star after what he's shown the last three years.

I don't think anyone would give up Randle for Kanter straight up. I might be wrong, but I haven't seen anything that says anyone thinks Kanter will be an All Star or he is worth a top 10 pick.

I think Kanter could be an all-star. I've always said Kanter>Randle.
