The Last Play of Regulation

On the last play of regulation, DWill gets his man to join the paratrooper club, the guy comes down on him and no foul!!!!! WTF???? That had to be one of the most gutless calls the refs made all night. Oh and after they took CJ's 3 pointer away after they played about 2 minutes, does that mean that Stern will give us that game 6 back that Dick Bavetta and crew stole from us????

I think the refs made the right call both times.

There was contact on Deron's shot, but not something that would normally be called. Deron didn't go into him, which he clearly should have. He faded away, which allowed the shot to be blocked.

On CJ's three, it never should have been allowed, and they checked it at the next time out. That's exactly what they were supposed to do. No conspiracy here.

I completely agree with all above. I saw the play and thought Deron lost the chance to win the game right there. On a previous possession Gordon made a similiar attempt to block and Deron jumped right into him for I believe 2 free throws. I thought Deron got freebies there because he clearly jumped forward to initiate the contact. On the last play all he had to do is go straight up instead of fading to get the contact, 2 free throws and chance to win the game. Gordon had his hand on the top of all ball. Good block, good call.

Yeah but what about the contact. When Rick Barry announced national NBA games his comment was always that when a defender leaves his feet (the paratrooper club) and contact occurs with the offensive player a foul is called on the guying leaving his feet 99.9% of the time.

I really think that jumping into defenders (to get a call) then chucking the ball towards the rim is ruining the game. If the defender lands on you or hacks you, it's a foul, but if you jump into him to FORCE contact, it's lame.

Getting contact on the ball is a foul?

D-Will didn't really complain about it, he could have jumped into him and force a foul but didn't. Only D-Wade in Miami would get that call. If Kobe didn't get it he would probably complain, he's such a whiner.

even Matty did not complain so looked like the right call. Looked like it was all ball. The refs really cant take the fall for that play. I am sure some one brought it up already by why the heck was Miles in the game for the end of the 4th and both overtimes?

iawtp. +1

I thought the refs were spot on. I was at the game, and Deron didn't argue and it looked clean. Had Deron not faded away on the shot, there would have been more obvious body contact and a foul likely would have been called.

Oh well, we won.

I'm getting hammered here, but it looked from my DVR that he didn't fade away he jumped straight up. This was like BRuss getting hammered in Portland on Horney's last game and the NBA declining comment on the call. DWill had already almost gotten into it with the REFS and one time a ref started walking toward him so he probably was intimidated and if I squawk I'm gone.

I watched the replays a few times (DVR) and to me it clearly looked like a foul. The guy landed on DWill. Even if he got all ball with his hands, the body contact was easily enough (in my opinion) to be labeled a foul 99% of the time.

It might have been a slight foul with the body. But at the end of the game the refs are supposed to let them play. IMO it wasn't enough of a foul to call. If Deron would have jumped into Gordon like he is supposed to when you get your guy in the air then its a foul for sure because there is no way Gordon gets out of the way and gets all ball.
