What's new

The Lauri Thread

If we move him it will be because we got at least one diamond type asset... not because we got like 3-4 picks from the Pistons with some meh young players.

If we move him all of us will end up being like "I mean you kind of had to move him for that".
I really hope you're right, assuming we trade him. I fear that we trade him to a contender and end up with a collection of cast-offs (e.g., Kuminga), hoping to benefit from a new situation and mid-to-late firsts. Thus, while all the podcasters, pundits, blog boys, etc., gush about what a great haul we got for him, we suffer yet more years of sucktitude waiting 3+ years for the cast-offs to demonstrate why they were cast-offs and for the haul of draft picks to round into mediocre-to-solid role players.

I think we can see the light at the end of the intentional tank tunnel and it gets dark without Lauri.

I also think we should chill playing him this many minutes right now. Seeing all the injuries happening there is no need to have his minutes load be so high right now. Need a couple rest games or a few where he plays 30 minutes to manage his health and the tank.

In the league where 35-year olds are still dominating, we have a legit all-NBA player who will not turn 29 until the next season, and we have a huge chunk of this board wanting to trade him because he doesn't fit some imaginary timeline and because draft picks.

I swear, some of you need to be beaten with a switch. That you had to go get yourselves.

It's definitely a small minority that want to trade Lauri

It might not be big man related, but the DVT is/was career threatening and a recurrence might just do that - so I'd count that as pretty major.
It just isn’t a musculoskeletal thing which is typically where the concern lies with giants and it is not a product of participating in athletics. It just isn’t in the same category.

I have thought a lot about potential trade partners for Lauri but maybe I should be thinking who are trade partners to make the Jazz better. I would love to make an offer for Tari Eason. I would like to see what it would take to pry Grimes away probably not a lot as he is UFA. I would give the jazz his bird right correct? (I am probably mistaken as i do not think Philly has his bird rights) Would we want to make an offer for Zion? Could he stay healthy enough to make the Jazz a contender?
What about Ja Morant?
Rj Barrett?
Anthony Davis?
Lamello Ball?
Sabonis?
Herb Jones?
Trae Young?
Vucevic?
Gafford?
Trey Murphy?
PJ Washington?
Jalen Green?

Just throwing some names out there that have been in rumors I know some of these are unrealistic but they are options.

So VinylOne then?

I won't start a poll because I've already started too many, but I think I could accurately predict where we stand:

- Posters who want to trade Lauri for whatever to preserve the tank - almost noone
- Posters who want to trade Lauri for a great offer and to preserve the tank - a handful
- Posters who would be open to trading Lauri for a great offer, but would prefer to keep him - Quite a few
- Posters who would not be willing to trade Lauri under any circumstance - a handful
