The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

This. He was asked about Kyrie because the Kyrie incident just barely happened and because Kyrie plays the same sport as him and was his teammate for a few years. The Jerry Jones thing was wrong, but why would reporters ask him about something that happened 65 years ago and involves someone in a different sport who Lebron has no connection to at all. It's apples and oranges.
I literally DGAF what LeBron thinks about almost anything.

There is definite tanking. In fantasy football at least not sure about basketball. A couple players in fantasy football can really change the outlook of your team. One guy in my league is 2-10 right now and just traded some of his starters to contenders for draft picks. He has the #1 pick locked up and has a couple of other pretty decent picks. The draft is for incoming rookies. This upcoming draft has a lot of potential fantasy studs.
A dude in my league just traded some of his best players for garbage. His team is 1-11 and the teams he traded with are in the playoff hunt. It pisses me off pretty bad. He traded najee harris for some garbage backup running back for the jets. He traded derek carr, stevenson (running back for patriots) and that raiders wide reciever from the packers (drawing a blank right now lol) for trash.

And he gets no benefit. One of the trades was with his brother whose team is 8-4 right now and is playing me this week. The other trade was with his buddy. I might fight a new league to play in next due to that BS

For clarification this is not a dynasty league so there is no advantage to tanking.

This is pure collusion and you should get out of that league ASAP.

Yeah but how do those tanking teams build a winning culture later?

The roster that Dallas has assembled around Luka is honestly depressing. That much money tied up into THJ, Bertans, and McGee is embarrassing. I know it's been said a lot already, but it just blows my mind how a team gets such a golden goose and then does everything else wrong.
They play defense pretty well but scoring depth on that team is non-existent. They have Christian Wood who is scoring 25 or 5 points every other night and Dinwiddie who occasionally gets hot from 3 but usually scores 10-20 points. They dont have legit #2 guy.

But as I've stated before, I think the way Luka plays serves him but not the team. He slows down the game so much and keeps the hands cold for others for such long stretches at times. The guy is an amazing scorer and one of the best I've ever seen in creating his own buckets from anywhere in the field with his movesets, but I don't think it will lead to team success as long as he plays the way he does.

Its 100% obvious you cannot insert anyone who wants to handle the ball with him, but even the majority of catch and shoot guys and off ball scorers in this league would struggle to stay in any rhythm with Lukas playstyle. I mean the guys usage rate is almost 40%.. IN AN AVERAGE GAME (worst outliers are like 60% usage).

Amen.

It's almost impossible to find a legit #2 guy for that team. Such a difficult role.

Brunson did a fantastic job. He was able to play off the ball efficiently when sharing the court with Luka, but carried the offense when Luka sat. That's hard to do.

The Mavs should have done whatever it took to retain him. I guess they didn't realize how important he was.

Damn, I just googled it. For some reason I assumed they got Javale on a vet minimum. They pulled a Utah Jazz move on that one

You are absolutely correct there. Brunson was an absolute gem for them. Mavs were dumb not to extend him and dangle him as a trade bait....

As we saw with Porzingis, they gotta be really careful as to who they bring in. Even if they are content and skilled playing off ball offensively, they also need to be able to tolerate Lukas antics and temper, without ever calling him out. Being a Mavs scout might be the most difficult scouting position in pro sports.
