Good ol OP. And ya we have had some issues. Deron Williams and robert whaley come to mind. Karl Malone has dinosaur sized skeletons. I think Deshawn Stevenson had some issues. To name a few. Still seems like the jazz typically have less knuckleheads than most teams do.

Bad move, but an acceptable bad move because they can cut bait on it easily. He's made every team he's played for worse when he is on the court and he's a supposed negative in the lockerroom.

29 other teams should have signed him if for no other reason than blocking the Lakers.

BTW this is not correct. He has had really positive on/off splits in Detroit and Houston the first year. Second year in Houston was slightly negative and last year was slightly negative for Dallas (the first "good" team he has played on). Kidd hated him from the get go (maybe with cause). He's a bad defender but a talented offensive player. At the minimum this deal has upside and almost no downside. Lakers aren't even a tax team so the financial penalties are minuscule.

Ahh yes, there is no downside, the entire NBA just didnt want to sign him for no reason.

I get that sometime NBA teams can be wrong, but Im going to believe there is something truly toxic/negative there until proven otherwise.

There is almost no downside for the Lakers. He likely had his choice of a few destinations at the minimum as he got a player option on Year 2... so he took his time and chose the best situation for himself. He has a relationship with Ham who seems like a guy that could get a talented guy to buy in.

LOL ain't like the guy got a non-guaranteed one year deal. He took his time when he realized there was nothing above minimum deals available. He likely has some toxic traits... doesn't mean he can't come in and be a one year boost for a contender.
 
Wood is 31st in the league in scoring per 36 at 23 pts per 36... right between Pascal Siakam and Jordan Clarkson. He was 32nd in the league in TS% last season. Getting a high volume scorer who is insanely efficient at the minimum is a good get... even if he is *** on defense and a douche in the locker room. Lakers (and Lebron) have had success with talented guys who are assholes... notably Schroeder and Howard. If the locker room stuff gets untenable then you cut him... easy peasy.
