The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Assume Eason doesn't get extended. I saw earlier last week they thought it would get done... How much are you paying him in FA? What makes Houston blink? Assume he is healthy this year and makes mild improvements... nothing crazy.

Mark Williams also a RFA. I know he has health concerns, but still a very good center option for teams who need someone.
Yeah. I assume if he is healthy and you offered anything reasonable that it would get matched. Regardless... he should be on the list.

I think he is the budget version where you go like 3/50M or something and pray he doesn't miss 60% of the games.

I just believe Kessler's side is probably the side being most set in their position because the market just dictates that. The list of free agent centers is pretty trash next year. It's Kessler/Duren/Williams, and that's it if you want a starting caliber 5 and Williams hardly qualifies with his injury history.

Nick Richards, Robert Williams, Zach Collins, Moritz Wagner, DeAndre Ayton are kind of the next, but they are all backups. Hell if Nurkic has a good year he might be in demand as a slightly more than the minimum type of player.

Always a risk because one of the teams with space and a need for a 5 are the Lakers, and they can always go star chasing and not have the money for Kessler. Charlotte is the other team. Maybe they draft a big in the 2026 draft or decide they dont want to max a 5 when they have to pay Miller the next season.

Would you rather have Christian Braun or Keegan Murray?

Sounds like Tari Eason isn't getting extended. So there is a name we can throw some money at I guess.

The FA list next year:

Trae Young - Player option
Tari Eason
Benny Mathurin
Ivey
Duren
Austin Reaves
Coby White

Then a bunch of guys like:
Keon Ellis
Quentin Grimes
Ayo Dosunmu
Sexton and Collins

IDK not a market I'm super excited to try and get someone for 45M instead of the 30M we would have had.

We should bring sexton back

I would say, as Jazz fans, we want Ayton to have a really solid season. Something that makes him opt out of his deal and an attractive option to one of these teams with cap-space that needs a 5, but might not want to spend for a top shelf 5.

I think Braun benefits hugely from playing next to Jokic and being the 3rd or 4th option. He’s a high-energy 3D wing. I like that he gets out on the break. I like that he stays healthy. He’s nothing special with the ball in his hands.

I guess if you put Braun’s deal next to RJ Barrett’s it starts to look okay.
