The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

You don't go out and get guys like Harrison Barnes and not play them. Maybe CP3 would be semi-content as a mentor, but I doubt it.
I agree about cp3.
As for Barnes, sometimes you do go out and get guys basically for free so you can trade them.
My main point is that 1 game has been played. Too early to declare anything as a certainty imo.

I do hope that the spurs try to win every game though.

Funniest thing to me about the spurs in game 1 was wemby leading the team in 3 point attempts. 1-8. Ouch.

Spurs main objective is developing Wemby. Everything they do is centered around that. If Barnes/CP3 better serve the development of Wemby than Castle does, they will play more

"Free" as in "John Collins free"? I thought you objected that idea.

Their game 1 rotation did not just randomly happen. Barnes started, CP3 started, and they also played the most minutes. Also simultaneously, Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones who have pretty similar skillsets to Barnes and CP3 played less minutes than they have averaged since their rookie year. Seems pretty clear that Popovich played who he thought gave him the best chance to win.

I'm not saying you are wrong. Just saying it's 1 game. Sometimes game 1 rotations and minutes are not identical to game 20 rotation and minutes. That's all.

And they will for sure change them when Vassell comes back. It remains to be seen what their fully healthy rotations are, but Vassell most likely slides in as their starting 2 and thus moves Champagnie to come off the bench.

Vassell also makes them a whole lot better, as if I recall right last year he was in most of their top netRTG lineups.

Also if they lose the first 10 games playing cp3 and barnes big minutes then maybe they say F it, lets pull the plug completely.

Anthony Edwards knows he can use his athleticism to beat his defender just about anytime he wants. Must be nice. He used it for the game-winning drive and FTs last night in Sacramento.

VJ Edgecombe stands out as a prospect in this next draft that has close to that level of athleticism.
