Ty Lue is one of the best in the business. I wonder if GSW will keep up this 12 man rotation thing all year or try to package some of these guys together. I think Kuminga and Podz may start to lose their luster as assets. Neither is having the best season at the moment. I think Kuminga belongs on a younger team where he has space to grow. Podz….he’s probably exactly where he needs to be but he just can’t put the ball in the basket.

Warriors were reportedly willing to give JK 30M AAV deal last offseason, but JK wanted more.

His minutes, production, efficiency and most advanced metrics are down from last season, however the team is doing better. It will be fascinating to see how his contract situation unfolds.

Oh he's definitely getting squeezed. Not a lot of money in FA and he's a RFA. Doubt anyone is giving him a great contract.

Yeah I was pretty amazed to read he turned down "about 30M per year" which Warriors reportedly offered him, and it seems both of you agree that he should have taken the money.

Monte Poole reported that JK was looking to get "well beyond 30M" and that the parties weren't even close on getting it done.

I can see it from his perspective…especially because we don’t exactly know what the offer was. Even with the Warriors holding back his value I’m not sure it will end up a mistake in the long run.

I think the right move would have been demanding a trade tbh. The Warriors are pretty much nuking any chance at him increasing his value. It’s not exactly a secret that the relationship between Kuminga and the Warriors is contentious, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a trade request (if it hasn’t already been placed).

There are not a lot of teams with cap space next summer, but S&T potential is very high. He’ll have suitors/options.

I'm glad Daniels and Anthony Black are both looking good. Was really worried on Daniels and I loved him in the draft. Black just hadn't had the PT but has been good this year now that he's getting the minutes.

A good reference point for JK would be Jalen Johnson. He signed a 5/$150. While that is an incredible amount of money, I think a lot of people would also say that it’s a team favored contract because $30M is actually a small portion of the cap in the distant future. That contract provides a ton of financial security but I can see why JK’s team thinks he would make more otherwise. If the Warriors offer to JK was the same structure as Jalen Green (very player favored) I think it was a mistake to turn it down. But it’s hard to fault anyone without knowing all the details.

My honest guess is that the Warriors didn’t offer him the best contract and they did so knowing his role would be reduced.

Black was really struggling on offense before last night, I’m interested to see if he can take that game and continue momentum. Last night he certainly showed his potential.

With the first contract I would almost always try and take the best extension offer as long as it was somewhere in a reasonable window. I think Johnson is a better player than JK but understand where the comp comes from and JK has been more available than Johnson. If they offered him anywhere in the realm of 4/100M I think I would have advised him to take it. The downside of having a catastrophic injury versus the upside of getting an additional 10-15M always seems like a bad risk assessment in my mind. If he gets hurt and end up on a minimum or some like 2/20M make good deal its just so catastrophic. Even if it was like 3/80M no options I would just find something that makes sense if I was JK. If they were lowballing like 4/60-70M then the "bet on yourself" seems to make a lot more sense.

Who know what was really out there of course. So I won't call anyone an idiot unless a player says "I was offered X and turned it down".

Anything in the 3/80 to 4/120 should have gotten done if I am JK's agent. I doubt anyone goes to like 40M for him and you are risking 80-120M and a lifetime of security for an extra $40M or so... if he had already made $100M that would be one thing. It always just seems wild to risk it.. feels like its less about money and more about like respect/ego.
