The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I think you need both quality and hype to really penetrate the markets the NBA are interested in. You reach a hell of a lot of people by producing Marvel-movies, but by also producing The Wire, you get the core group of fans who stick around, just waiting to catch that bit of magic again. In English what I am trying to say is that the league IMO is best served by producing both a ******** of highlights and competetive games between teams playing high quality basketball.

100% agree and it’s totally possible in sports. The NFL is a league that is based around “game day” and is obviously very successful. It’s just clear that the NBA has gone with a different approach. From Silvers perspective, the players keep making more and more money. The owners are making even more money. That’s what he cares about so his approach is working.

Wonder if this injury is why Bilal started dropping goose eggs. WAS will be an interesting team watch regardless, hopefully less painful with Poole and Kuz outta there. Between Tre, Cam, Sarr, and George they've got a lot of chuckers.

You mean a lot of Americans can't afford this stuff? **** them, they all have YouTube. Watch YouTube and buy a ****ing jersey, we only want rich and famous people at the games anyway, better for marketing to sell more jerseys to the YouTube fans!

Frankly it's just going to get worse and worse...
The league pass is $100 per season, about 8 bucks per month. Do you know "a lot of Americans" who cannot afford spending 8 dollars monthly for something they truly enjoy?

Sure, Jen. Now for 8 buck per month (and students get 40% discount) every American basketball fan can watch all regular-season NBA games played. You can select them with the home feed ort the visitor feed. And the condensed games. And the highlights. And preseason games. And all games from previous 10 or so seasons.

Is it still somehow too expensive? You can go for the Premium pass for $150 and split it with two friends so it will come out to about $4-5 monthly for you. And that way you get access to arena feeds and no commercials.

NBA fans never enjoyed such cheap and comprehensive access to NBA games. The accessibility, selection and cost would blow the mind of every fan from the 80s or 90s. But yet people are still complaining how expensive and inconvenient it is now! Which, in turns, blows my mind.

You can’t watch your local team with League Pass. That’s the accessibility issue. Local Jazz fans are “lucky” because you can buy one streaming service, but for most fans they have to buy an expensive package or multiple of them to watch the team.

You also can't watch nationally televised games, which basically means all playoff games.

Its why I dont feel an ounce of guilt using illegal services when needed for those games.

If the NBA could provide a product that you get from the services (simply streaming every game) I would pay handsomely for it. But you cannot buy that from league pass.

People used to download music illegally all the time, now they don't because they can pay for something that has a good UI and accessibility.

O yes, you totally can! The nationally televised games are available next morning, the home games in the local market are available in 3 days. And you can watch all of those sweet post-game interviews. And the home and playoff games going back many, many years.

But wait, you want to watch the home games in SLC in real time? You totally can and it's free! They are on your over-the-air TV channel!
- "But I don't have a TV..." People are giving out old TVs for free all the time on the sites like Freecycle.
-"But I don't have a digital antenna..." They were offered for free several years ago but if you missed it you can buy it now for, like, 20 bucks... and, probably, still can find it on Freecycle for free if you are determined enough.

Of course, there are still some weird edge cases like living far away from SLC and not getting the local SLC TV but still being blacked out on the League Pass. Those unlucky ones to fall within this category are by no means "a lot of Americans" and they had an even harder time to get the Utah Jazz games back in the 80s and 90s.

We are living in the incredible times when having access to the unimaginably gigantic amount of the NBA and Utah Jazz content is unprecedently easy and cheap. And yet people still complain.

****ers require Windows (or Android, or iOS) to view, though. Assholes.

Also, the electricity. Silver should reimburse me for the cost of electricity I spend watching the NBA. And for the opportunity cost of all my time spent watching it.
