What's new

The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I'm really enjoying the NBA these days. I think the overall product is better than ever – even with tanking and some truly questionable officiating principles.

I mean it's mid December. Not that long ago, you'd see a **** ton of lazy blowouts played at 50% speed this time of the year. Bored guys walking around, taking whole possessions off, stars sitting with "load management". The games simply didn't matter and the whole league was sleepwalking until the AS break.

Now? There's several great games going on almost every night. Teams go hard, stars are playing if they're healthy, the game itself moves fast and it seems like there's more variety in offenses again. It's not just about "launching endless 3pt shots". Ball-stopping for dumb ISOs has almost disappeared and you can't halt fast breaks with take fouls anymore (which is the best and most important rule change in decades, by the way).

Also seems like the league on the whole is much more professional these days. The competition is tougher, with new guys coming in from all over the world. The hard-partying "knucklehead" type is almost extinct.
