The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I seriously think this point of emphasis made by the NBA is game changing. Every player should readjust the way they attack the basket and play offense because it’s too effective. So many guys like Key and Deni have already skyrocketed their FTr and many more are sure to follow.
In general the issue with the league rules is they all became attorneys and litigate the game as such. There needs to be more "spirit of the law" type interpretations. I think I am more okay with this than the enormous amount of runway players get with zero step and gather but in general there are just not a lot of things defenses can do if rules are interpreted this way.

To me this is much worse. At least illegal screens, traveling, push offs etc are there for the purpose of putting the ball in the basket. It feels cheap and I would prefer if the allowed less, but at least the offensive player is trying to score and the defender is trying to defend.

Running into the defender really only exists to get the call. I hate when there are a lot of whistles and I especially hate when offensive players have moves to get to the line and not to score. Defenses now have to try to run away from the offensive players. WB was clearly trying to get out of the way of Deni, but Deni is too good at targeting the defender. That’s what the game will turn into.

Hence the entire video about this I posted in this thread. It's ridiculous.

Travelling, palming and SGAs foul bating antics is ruining today's game. That and too many FT games make it boring.

And refs should be punished for bad calls.
The refs generally call games as the league dictates. This is what the league wants.

I don't see how travelling and palming and ruining things. Traveling and palming have been impossible to call accurately since players got creative and skilled at ball-handling. Even if you were trying to be super strict about making every call, you would be making a ton of calls on legal plays.

I think the big issue right now is that it's impossible to close out on shooters. Too much shooter protection so now everyone can get wide open shots. You don't even need the fastest release or best shot under pressure. If you have a high level step back your shot can't be contested.

Queen and Fears can look as good as they possibly can, Rookies aren't driving consistent wins
Do you still think so? This year we had quite a few rookies who obviously consistently contribute to wins: Flagg, Harper, Kon... I think that Fears, Queen and VJ are also driving wins by now. The 2025 draft was a really, really good one.

Hope the Pelicans will pass the Jazz in a month.
