What's new

-the official Alec Burks PG thread-

I will just say that there was about a half dozen play last night from Burks that I was very impressed with. They were PG type plays.

His defense was great on Robinson too.

I wish he would take it to the rim more. I have been waiting for a jaw dropping play from him since he started getting so much playing time.

I have been waiting for a jaw dropping play from him too...... The closest thing he did lately was the "houdini" play were he split the defenders and double pumped under the big down low for a layup.

I can do that and I'm a chubby midget. Not even close to jaw dropping.

Burks has looked MUCH better running the point these last two games .... He looked pretty bad as a PG against the Kings though .... I'm optimistic he can keep it up. He has shown a ton more patience lately, he will pass up ok shots to run the offense, will pull it out and reset the offense, hopefully I will be eating crow in the near future.

Fixed. A 6'6'' guard who took out one of the fastest 5'8'' guards in the league? Some elite athleticism right there IMO.

I wouldnt be giving Burks a handy for shutting down Nate Robinson, he had a good quarter but overall he is not a very good player. When he does well against a real PG like DWill, Paul, Irving then I will be really impressed.

The Burks love on here is ridiculous. His handle is average at best. Out of 333 guys, he's 289th in TS% and 290th in PER.

OKC coming up. Tinsley will probably be at limited minutes that game if Corbin is smart.

Burks has shown he can guard PGs pretty well by backing off and using his length/range. I don't think his foot speed is enough to be an elite PG. If Hayward and Burks run a two-guard front that can kinda work, but it would still be better if we had a floor-general type with quicks and the ability to hit shots from everywhere. That would change everything about the Jazz right now.

We do miss the younger version of DWill right now.
