What's new

The Official and Unfortunate R.I.P. Jazzfanz member thread

Harsh, but largely true. I had a hard time with the same when I first got here. I don't think there's a more basketball savvy fanbase than Kentucky's and the talk is technical and detailed. On the board I used to run, there was always AAU coaches, Scott van Pelt, sports radio guys, and even the occasional college coach dropping by for discussion.

I just more adapted to this site and what it is/has become. I've found I can write something detailed and long and no one responds.. so why waste time?

Anyway, even though you're a consistent smug *** in nearly every post, you're a definite favorite of mine and I would be severely disappointed if you ever quit posting.
What can I say, we're just not intelligent enough to take it all in at once. Better to share tiny snippets of wisdom with us, then add little by little as we show comprehension and absorption. Its a WIN/WIN: we avoid having our heads explode and you build up your post count.

That is not what I was implying...

What I said, and meant, was that it seems posters (for the most part) here only really respond to humor and sarcasm. After a while I just assumed no one really wanted to talk the dirty details of basketball. No offense intended.

Actually let's rehash this...

ESPN with all their resources and all its money.. they could buy all the "experts" or "washed-up" coaches/scouts/GM's all they want and have a whole 1 hour Finals specials on the different plays that the Heats run.. or the different defensive schemes the Spurs run...

But what do they do? They settled for Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless discussing LeBron's "Clutchness".

Why is that?

Why is that?

For one thing: It's be hard to talk about tape and plays for an hour without talking about the flops and bad calls and star bias.
For another: monopoly.
For a third: that sounds like a lot of work. Easier to keep doing what they've been doing.
For a 4th: they probably think what they are doing makes the most money with the least risk.
