Clue me in. How does one go about judging ply by ply guys? I thought it is mostly subjective opinions. Must be wrong.

You judge them by their knowledge of basketball and their preparation for the specific game they're calling. Obviously. Bolerjack grades very low in both.

This isn't some mere "subjective" thing, hun.

"skip pass"..... cuz it bounced on the floor.

Fyi, Joe Johnson is a vet. A veteran. He plays at his own pace.

Fyi, Donovan Mitchell is a rook. A rookie. He's a rookie. Rook is short/cool for rookie. Donovan is a rookie.

Jingling Joe. He jingles passes and shots. He used to just jingle shots. But he jingles more now.

Donovan Mitchell is from Louisville, btw.

Ok?

You can also judge them by their reliance on hackneyed and straight-up dumb phrases. Bolerjack is awful in this respect, and is definitely responsible for dragging Harpring down to his level.

Lets use this thread as a quote tracker of all the stupid **** he says in addition just to vent about his general laziness and lack of enthusiasm.

Who is Harvey Weinsteining Boler? When will it all come out so the Jazz are finally forced to grow a pair and update their broadcast team to the 21 century.

OK. I've got one. Against Denver, about 3/4th's of the way into the 3rd, he said Favors had scored all of his points in the 4th. Didn't know what quarter it was and Favs had definitely scored in the first half. The problem with Bolerjack is he concentrates on trying to be "cute" in his repartee with Harpring instead of just doing his damn job.

No question he has a great voice. But c'mon, how many years has he been using "skip pass" incorrectly? I'm sure he's been told about it: just too arrogant to acknowledge his lack of knowledge. That's just one example. A lot of it comes down to inattention, like miscalling 3PT shots. Watch the damn game and call it. We don't ****ing care if you're putting cheese on a hot dog and have the camera crew cut to you and Matt stuffing your faces while the action is happening on t he floor. Do that at halftime. I try to listen to the other team's feeds whenever I can.

Please list their scores and rank dear.

Dont' mind Boler really... Harpring is a different level though. He said last night something along the lines of "There is no better center for this team than Steven Adams" ....
In all fairness, it's a valid point. He provides rebounds and doesn't need to score. Perfect for a team of chuckers

Boler and Harpring are great. Quit hating on people for no damn reason.

I disagree. Matt is fine, but Bolerjack has almost zero basketball knowledge and has made ZERO effort to improve in any regard in over a decade run as a basketball broadcaster. As has been said many times before, he's a crappy catch phrase machine and brings nothing to the table beside an apparently great caster voice (which I don't agree with)..

I've watched Craig cast a football game before. He was much more insightful and engaged. On top of that his voice was different and sounded better. It was odd. When he's casting basketball he acts like a cracked out clown running around the room making funny noises and non-distinguishable half-assed balloon animals, trying to distract everyone for realizing how **** he is. And before you know it your eyes are glazed over and he's snuck out the back with the check.

It's apparent he gives zero ****s about the sport of basketball and improving his craft. OUT WITH THE MAN ALREADY!

So why is it, I see all the time, other fans on other forums complimenting our broadcasters? Saying he has zero knowledge is a bit too hyperbolic for me. The dude has great pipes, and calls the game well. I like him. Locke is way worse imo.

Let's make a comparison to music...

Craig is like a band who catches you unaware with one song with a decent hook. He gets you thinking, "Yeah, I could listen to more of that." The problem is, when you drill deeper, it isn't that good of a hook, and the rest of his album is the same **** over and over. And, when you listen for years of his ****, it's like "Damn, he's still playing that one song!" Look, O>D nailed it: it's bloody ****ing obvious that the dude has cared zero ****s about improving his knowledge of basketball. I've also added that his preparation for each specific game is just straight-up lazy. He thinks his 'pipes' are the key. To finish the metaphor, he's kinda like a poor-man's Carlos Santana... fated to play the same ****ing licks over and over. ****ing clown.

Remember when Locke was calling Summer League games with him? Locke was a mother-****ing mental giant in that context. I would take Locke 100 times out of 100 over Boler, even with all the shill. At least I might learn something. Boler hasn't taught me one ****ing thing in 10 years. Not one.

You're over thinking it. He calls play by play for bball. Maybe he could do more homework, but 90% of people don't care.

No I'm not. You're under-thinking it. Thanks, though. Great riposte here. Not surprised you're a Boler fan.

If I wasn't lazy I'd transcribe some of the interesting stuff the Wolves announcers were saying about the Jazz and Quin. It was refreshing to hear.

I mean, I'm not jumping up and down for him, but I'm not going to write a paper on how his play calling is comparable to music theory and bitch about it. Too each their own. I'm not surprised either.
