Some of you guys probably need to go give your wife a big smooch and thank her for never allowing your taste of cars to be brought into the marriage or seen anywhere near your homes.

Funnest car I ever owned, hands down. More fun than my vette, even more fun than my Prius if you can imagine that! Rebuilt it during high school, drove it for 5 glorious years pre- and post-mission. Loved it. Sold it for a family car (1991 Ford Escort), and have regretted selling it ever since. Now I will spend the weekend going through old pictures to try to find a pic of mine. It was redder than this, a deep blood red.
My next car is a Tesla.
I would love to have a Tesla, just cannot justify the money when considerably cheaper alternatives with competitive fuel efficiency exist. And as a lux auto alone it just doesn't do it for me. Now if the price came down to the 40k range then maybe.

What if they retrofitted a 240? Hmmm
No ****ting you but I bet an InFiniti q45 would whoop all these cars asses.
It's one of the safest and most well-constructed cars to ever hit the market, which explains the unprecedented amount of acclaim and the huge number of awards. The Tesla is an amazing achievement in engineering, and I wouldn't base my opinion on an out of context Youtube video.
I had not seen the youtube video and that is not what I based my post on. I was referring to the fact that 2 other Tesla's in the past month have caught fire when debris in the road was flipped up perforating the lithium-ion battery packs causing the cars to catch on fire.
They are planning a much cheaper car in 2014. Model S will eventually come down in price as well.
I wouldn't count on that doing anything but crushing Tesla. They're a niche, small business model able to customize and offer high customer service where big auto cannot. If they start opening up to the masses then GM and Ford will quickly adapt, and crush them with their far superior manufacturing infrastructure. Big auto could make a $50,000 comp to Tesla but it wouldn't be marketable even though it's $35K less (minimum). Teslas are bad *** and that's why they sell; it's not about the price tag much.
I love Tesla's, but I don't ever see it as an everyman's car.
