The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

Respect, and even sympathy, for your post. I'm quoting this one piece, because I think a lot of this situation with Trump's impeachment boils down to this sentiment. I don't know if anything Obama did was criminal, but let's concede the notion there was something he did on that level, and he got away with it. The difference with Trump is how far Dems have been able to successfully pursue correcting his corruption. What you're saying is we should just allow all politicians to be corrupt, as long as they represent the platform we identify with. If Trump accomplishes this, do you realize the precedent created will allow all presidents from now on to lie, cheat, and behave unethically? At this point, we can confidently say both Nixon and Clinton were impeached for less than Trump. If he is successful, nothing any of them has done will be impeachable. Are you saying that is what you want...?
I agree with the slippery slope you are pointing out. I disagree with your claim that Trump has been impeached for less than Nixon and Clinton did. In both those cases there was a crime identified in the articles of impeachment. Why was there no crime identified this time? I think it's because they hate him so badly that it doesn't really matter to them if they can prove no specific crime, and they think that if they shout about this loud enough that everyone else will go along with them. I think they are wrong. No doubt that he is an abrasive and confrontational guy, and no question that he fights with guns blazing. I have said often that I wish he behaved differently, but given the history of Republican leadership being mowed over by the Dems strategy of shaming (accusations of racism, sexism, lack of inteligence, etc., etc.) maybe the only way that a conservative can be effective is to plow forward despite it all. In my view Trump has been surprisingly effective at implementing his agenda. I don't know how he has accomplished anything in this environment.

Not in a way that justifies his behavior, unlike the HRC comparisons.

I don't know what you're saying. But it is interesting to note that HRC does not have a mustache either. And I don't think that's anywhere close to the only reason that she and Trump are far more like one another than either of them are like Hitler.

The Dems do themselves no favors by making these ridiculous comparisons. Large numbers of people see their constant hyperbole for what it is and are completely turned off.
Is Silesian even a "Dem"?
That post was made by silesian, not "the Dems"

Dems compared Obama favorably to great leaders like MLK, Churchill, JFK, Truman, FDR, and Gandhi

Republicans say Trump is not as bad as HRC.

I think the sarcasm and the point I was trying to make may also have been missed.

I was saying that the some Republicans defend their guy by saying he isn't as bad as HRC or Obama, both of whom they consider to be evil incompetent socialists. They may as well be saying he is better than Stalin.

I wasn't saying that Trump equals Stalin. Stalin had a mustache.

And yes, I am about as far from a Dem as you can imagine. I'm a fiscal conservative who supported McCain, likes Romney, voted for Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2 (once), etc. Then the Republicans lost their mind and their soul.

Do you realize that a bunch of the posters on here are up in arms because they say that Republicans are comparing Trump to God?
