What's new

The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

What the heck even is this? What’s he trying to say? And Trumpers claim mueller and Biden have mental issues?

Some great news! We'll see who gets nominated next.

And on twitter, Donald is blaming the “Lamestream media” for doing the vetting that Donald was too lazy to do himself.

I’m guessing either Steve ducey or Julian Assange will be nominated next.

With Hurd retiring and Mia Love defeated last fall, I don’t think the republicans have a single African American in the House or Senate anymore.

Something I’m sure some media outlets/pundits will blame the democrats for.

Why do you vote? Same answer, probably. I'm guessing you don't vote because you think your individual vote will make any difference at all.
Exactly. I don't vote. As long as the electoral college is in place.

Except when I see something that is as big as Trump being our president. Then I feel I at least have to do what I can, even if it doesn't matter and is mostly symbolic, to stop the son of a bitch.

I find it strange that you (and others) can't get behind that message.

May we all have this much courage...

Thank you Nikki, for really sticking your neck out...

This is what happens when you despise Donald, lack guts, and love the judges and tax cuts.

OK, going back a step to answer your question. I vote because I see it as a civic duty. I vote in order to honor those who have died in order to provide this right to me. I vote because I believe that there's a moral responsibility to act in such a way that if everyone acted like you the world would be a good place. I vote to "do what I can", as you nicely put it. I vote in order to make a "symbolic point" (as you nicely put it) about who I support and who I don't, even though I recognize my vote cannot possibly change the outcome. (And for what it's worth, the "my vote cannot possibly change the outcome" point is completely true regardless of electoral college or not.) I vote so I can tell others that voting is important and not be a hypocrite.

And, by the way, just to point out the obvious--every single one of those reasons applies equally for a third party vote like I did last election, as it would for a vote for one of the two major parties.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this one Colton.
I think that each vote can make a difference cause each vote can add to another vote making many many votes which does make a difference.

If I convinced you to vote against Trump (vote Democrat) and I convinced others and you convinced some people and this was happening all across the country then a ******** of votes that would have gone to a 3rd party could actually end up keeping Trump from winning again.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of anti Trump conservatives I follow on Twitter applaud her comment, in all seriousness. My reaction was more like yours. Is there any way she could have expressed distaste any more mildly than that?

I feel that a weak response like Nikki gave is worse than a nonresponse. You know? Because it shows to me at least on some level she recognizes that what he’s doing is deplorable yet she lacks the courage to call it out. What do you think?
