What's new

The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

No negative accusation about Trump could ever shock you because you've bought into the narrative that he is one of the most loathsome people in the history of this planet. Anyone who gets involved in even slightly questioning any negative media claim about him on this site is quickly buried by the Trump haters. These people don't care that claims are being made not merely without evidence, but in the face of contradictory evidence. They believe they are winning their arguments, but in reality the people with happy and productive lives are just realizing, one by one, that they'd rather walk away than breath in the toxic fumes being spewed in the JazzFanz.political forums. The last several pages, which I just visited and read, tell me that nothing around here has changed. I'm not surprised by many of the usual haters, but I'm sad that they can so reliably count fish among their ranks.

Trump isn’t to blame for all of life’s problems, but he is a jerk. Always has been even before his presidency.

He’s morally bankrupt which is my main issue with him. I can’t respect anyone with a set of ethics such as him.

Damn snowflake I simply said that new stuff comes out about trump almost daily (true) and that I wouldn't be surprised by anything that Trump would do (also true)

Buck up camper. Life is good

Btw, I have always hated trump every bit as much as the "usual haters" you speak of. This isn't a new condition for me. I have hated him since before he became president. A lot of Trumpers probably did as well.

Speaking of new stuff coming out about trump almost daily and how unsurprised by it I am.....

Michael Cohen's Daughter Reveals How She Was Sexualized by Donald Trump as a Teen

As Cohen details in the book, it was a hot summer day in 2012 when he was standing with Trump outside the pool area at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, discussing “some pressing business matter, like the size of the breasts of a woman sunbathing on a lounge chair.” Cohen writes that he remembers Trump whistling and looking over at the tennis courts: “Look at that piece of a**,” Trump said. “I’d love some of that.” Little did Trump know, he was talking about Cohen’s then 15-year-old daughter. Cohen turned to Trump and said, “That’s my daughter.”

Cohen’s book continues to recount the uncomfortable anecdote: “That’s your daughter? When did she get so hot?” Trump said. Cohen writes that he didn’t respond but remembered thinking, “Who talks about a man’s daughter in that way?” And when Samantha approached her father and gave him a kiss on the cheek, Trump apparently asked for one too — to which the teen “complied with a tiny peck.” Cohen writes that Trump then offered him a “bro-like bumped fist” after questioning Samantha about her looks. “When did you get such a beautiful figure?” Trump said. “You better watch out because in a few years I’ll be dating one of your friends.”

Just trump being trump. Nothing to see here

Love the defense of Trump that all of the negative stuff is just made up.

I don't need anything other than the words that have come out of Trump's mouth, uninterrupted, unfiltered, in their full context, to know how I feel about Trump.

Try again...

or actually don't. Just STFU if all you can do is offer intellectually dishonest arguments about how it's all the lying media's fault that I don't like Trump.

If 1,000 people a day were dying due to riots, law and order would be a bigger issue.

Anything to distract from a virus that is going nowhere.

Because I have been so focused, for several years now, on the un-American(or is it actually all too American?) nature of Trumpism, I, on occasion, find myself sliding toward the response described here, into a “**** it, nothing matters” state of mind, into someplace where I can somehow find some peace of mind, someplace to rest from this weary battle...I can’t be the only one, so some here may also relate to this essay....

“But here's the thing: Both reactions (disgust and indifference) express part of the whole truth — a truth that is actually more shocking than either part alone. Trump is in fact a thoroughly repulsive human being, and we all know that it won't matter because a sufficient number of Americans actively like or just don't care that he's a repulsive human being. Some of them probably like it because it triggers liberals like me, which is both entertaining and politically satisfying. Others probably like it because they are pretty repulsive themselves and enjoy having a champion in a position of power and influence who can truly represent them. Still others may not exactly like his repulsiveness but are perfectly willing to tune it out in return for getting concrete goodies in return: cuts to taxes and regulations, right-wing judges appointed to the courts, and so on.

But what am I supposed to do with this information about my fellow Americans? How should I respond — as a citizen, as a human being — to the knowledge that more than two-fifths of likely voters are cheered by or indifferent to the fact that the commander in chief thinks soldiers are chumps for giving their all for their country in acts of sacrificial valor?

Or that he was more concerned last winter about propping up the stock market than with protecting the country from a far greater danger than any of the ersatz threats he routinely hypes for political gain?

Or that so few appear to care that a significant portion of the country is on fire, turning its skies the color of blood and rust, and rendering the air a toxic fog of soot and ash — a vivid glimpse of the kind of world that awaits all of us if we continue to deny the reality of climate change?

What's the right response to this knowledge? The options often appear to be a stark either/or: Either a constant primal scream — or a cynical shrug of the shoulders. "Lol nothing matters" is the latter, and it's immensely tempting.

It's tempting for the same reason that mindfulness meditation is gaining in popularity. Both grow out of a desperate need to disconnect from the circus. To soothe the anxiety. To stand with composure before the uncertainties that encircle us. To stop caring quite so much, if only for a brief time, about a world that seems to be coming apart.”

Who's the witness? What single shred of evidence do you have?

There are 5 witnesses who don't need to hide their name that claim this is a lie.

Mafioso defending the Don, duh. Wonder how many would testify to this under oath? Lying to the press is normal operating procedure for these cult members and it goes without saying that they have zero credibility,

I'm old enough to remember Trump from the 80's. He was a repulsive slime ball then, and he continues to be one today. His political affiliations have only ever been about his own convenience and search for influence and power. He's a con-man, grifter, charlatan, sociopath, racist, nihilist, and a narcissist. And you Trumpists KNOW it, but don't care because he's a direct reflection of YOU. He's got all these people in this country thinking he's some kind of conservative, but in reality he's malleable - he's going to be whatever serves his own ego and props up his power. First he tried his hand at being a democrat, but when that didn't work out for him he decided to masquerade as a "conservative" republican. Just look up his political donations over the years. He's all over the place just fishing. You think he gives a flying **** about conservative judges? Hell no. He couldn't give a **** who the judges are, outside of the ones that hear his own court cases. He's never been religious or patriotic, but he'll drape himself in flags and bibles and rhetoric for the optics alone to dupe the rubes of the GOP and whomever will take the bait. In a way, he is the exact embodiment of the GOP base - the ones who claim to be "christian", who go to church on Sunday just to be seen going to church, yet cannot practice what is preached to them because they don't truly believe it. I've lived among these people both in the deep south and in Utah. Strange how it's the regions that claim to be the most "christian" - they are the worst kind of hypocrites. I don't and never have had to rely on "the media" to tell me who Trump is; we've all been watching the Trump ****-show for over 40 years. His morals boil down to what is best for him, and to hell with anything else. He's going to make the next 6 weeks absolute chaos, and he's going to burn everything down that he can on the way. All you Trumpists - not "conservatives", not "Republicans", but Trumpists - here and everywhere, can right go **** yourselves in every hole available. I truly hope you reap what you have sown and your legacy burns in infamy for generations to come.

Too harsh? Yeah, eat a dick - I don't care.

Unfortunately the chaos will be much longer than just 6 weeks. He’ll probably lose, dispute the election, and then remain a huge figure in the national conversation as he unleashes a new media conglomerate-monster that thumps alongside all his pending legal battles—sowing division first and foremost. Reality TV at its apogee. And the conglomerate will endure afterwards, of course. And Don Jr is already ascending to grab the reigns of such an enterprise.

Our society was already deep into a 40-year cycle of institutional death and corruption. (A cycle that was exacerbating and feeding back into much longer and deeper cycles of corruption, of course). There’s absolutely no reason to think we can heal from a Trump-sized attack quickly or easily.

We can only take one step at a time and hope to limit the losses. Obviously Trump has to go. That’s a good first step.

True enough. He's a stain that's going to take a generation to scrape out of society's carpet - but like any stain, it's ghost will remain. He needs to go and it needs to be a landslide to purge him and his enablers from government. This country needs a reconstruction that makes the post civil war south look like Disney World.
