Quin Snyder. To me all of this has exposed his coaching. He isn't capable of getting the best play from his players consistently. His sets are apparently so complicated that an established strong player struggles still to be fully integrated. The issues I'm seeing to me points directly to the coach. I've played, coached and assistant coached and otherwise been connected to organized ball for over 3 decades now and it looks to me like the players aren't responding well to Quin. I think it's time for a coaching change.

I think this is a valid notion. I don’t expect that the FO will really heat up his seat, but I do think Q has had an undeniably bad year so far. And that’s not been because he’s under-performed in just one or two areas. I think the list of things is at least 4-5 subjects long.

How much accountability comes down on DL?

There are some things about Quin that bother me, but its so hard to tell who is a good coach... you can spot the bad ones for the most part.

I think he tried to do the right thing a couple weeks ago and move Conley to the bench... he was overruled by the front office.

I think he might be a bit rigid... I think he is less willing to tolerate mistakes from young players than he should... Team to team adjustments in the regular season don't always happen (don't always have time). His team has been lackadaisical for stretches of time this year. He gets some blame... but I don't think he is taking more of the blame pie than the front office.

I mean how long have we said we need a shooting big (Bojan doesn't really count as a big... I'm talking a guy that can play the 4/5 and stretch the floor)? So he doesn't necessarily have the tools he needs to switch things up as much as we'd like. Like the Mike Conley addition... great its another creator... but we already had one small creator... did we need to push all in on having two?

Oh STFU. He's had 1 bad part of 1 season. And these are millionaires that hold all the power. You can't just bully them into doing what you want, like you can a rec league team of 14 year olds. Wanting to fire Quin right now is beyond asinine. Jesus.

Let's see, plenty of teams do just that. And they bench players too, or trade them. Ineffective coaches get cut out, where is Corbin head coach right now? What did hiring Phill Jackson do for the bulls? If we had replaced Corbin a year earlier what might that have done for us? If Quin can't keep the team engaged what good does it do to keep him?

GTFO with your talk like there is nothing that can be done and oh well, **** it attitude. Idiot!

    Probably me, too.

But Q isn’t playing enough with the full hand he was dealt. And that’s an allegation that’s incredibly easy for me to stand behind. It involves not experimenting enough, not reaching his players effectively, running months of bad offense, etc.

I think he has struggled and we haven't had the Jae Crowder hug type moments this season. I think he's shown a history of being good and getting the most out of guys so I don't think guy needs firing at all. I'd give it another year before I'd consider it. Can we get Igor back? I think he helps and is a top notch assistant.

I have also wondered if Quin is okay... like not on the drugs or something weird, but I think he lost someone close to him to start the season... I'm trying to remember who.

Maybe he can't take the team to the next level... he deserves more time though. Good coaches don't grow on trees... I think he is at least good.

I think DLJZ built the team a little goofy, but it should be better than this. Q has some tools for sure but he doesn't have amazing can't fail tools.

The Quin part is true, too. But what’s baffled me is that DL, as captain of the ship, has clearly been on a different page from Quin on multiple issues, and just because DL likes something doesn’t mean it will be implemented the way DL wants (Exum is a glaring example, and DL eventually acquiesced and got a guy Quin has liked for a while and it’s obviously working). Quin certainly gets a lot of blame, as do a lot of players, but DL is masterminding this whole operation and should be aware of these issues, as well as being aware of possible ways to address them.

My tl;dr summary of how the FO runs things is that they don’t allow the lows to cloud their judgement, which is a perfectly reasonable strategy, but they have to take the same approach to the other side of things. They don’t let the lows affect them, but they’re out there taking hits from the Kool Aid bong with fans when we’re playing well.

This team would be fine with someone like Christian Wood, but we’re not proactive enough to grab that guy, unless you count the third of our roster that’s in the G League, or worse, we don’t even recognize that we need that guy, or even worse, don’t think we need anyone.

When we don't get him this offseason a piece of me will die forever... I don't even care if we don't have the space and he signs for like twice as much as we could offer.

Quinn hasn't adjusted to teams switching on D to negate Rudy's offense and to teams going small ball to negate Rudy's defense.

This has been a glaring issue since that Houston game a few months back, unless we're playing against injured or bottom tier teams.

He hasn't figured it out, nor has he made any adjustments. Dude is so overrated by jazz fans.

They are married to good, certain, and traditional... which will lead them to 50ish wins... 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs and job security. I think they then took a risk on the wrong type of guy in Mike... when we had the perfect backcourt complement already, but the real issue could have been waiting too long to change up the last iteration of the team.

I don't know what we do from here...

IDK the offense has generally been good. The other issue is if teams take away screen and roll with switching the iso stuff would work a whole lot better with a 5 out type lineup... we don't have that piece.

I think when you play basketball you get a sense for how hard it is... When I play with big guys that don't have much use away from the basket it gets so hard to beat your man and then have a big waiting for you. I think we can play more with Rudy in the dunkers spot and be effective, but it'd sure be nice to have a functional stretch 5 for a few minutes to loosen things up.

You're right, there are lots of teams that pull that **** at the first sign of issues. And all those teams are garbage and will remain garbage. You fire a coach thats been right at 50 wins for 4 years in a row because he had a bad quarter of a season?

What the F do you want him to do with Rudy? He's been hot garbage. What about Bogey? Awful the last 6 weeks. Don? Awful the last 2 months. You put all of their issues on Quin? Seriously, what do you want and or expect? Never have a bad stretch? No slumps ever? Make the finals every year?

This is Utah. Better come to terms with the realities of life as a Jazz fan.

Do you follow professional sports by chance?

Quin has bad stretches every year - particularly the beginning of the season.

He's an above average coach imo. But I'm not sure he's capable of having his system produce a championship.

Remember when Toronto fired their COY coach two years ago?

    Pepperidge Farms remembers.

    Was that a garbage decision?
