Hood was a year and nine months older than Burks before playing each of their respective first NBA games.

That's significant. So is having either Corbin for three years or Coach K for a year.

Hopefully Burks has learned a lot the last 12 months under Quin, feels infinitely more relaxed and confident, has grown his Bball iq, and will play much more inherently intelligent on the court.

I don't think so. Start Hood. His fit is perfect with the starters and Burks is more go the pure instant offense 6th man.

Where they end up at the end of their rookie year is kind of the baseline that all future improvement is measured from, where it all starts so to say. Hood has a higher base than Burks.

I don't think so. Start Hood. His fit is perfect with the starters and Burks is more go the pure instant offense 6th man.

We haven't really seen Burks in the new system, because of health, and when we changed team identity, so... Also, there is a lot of value to having Hood off the bench. He is offensively gifted, and Quin can trust him 100% to calm the other youngins and run the system, plus a year of dominating second units will likely build his confidence very high.

You saying Burks needs more than 27 games of shooting the 3 well is funny, considering your stance. We have a small size on Hood. Alec also shot pretty decent from 3 in 13'-14'. His career trajectory is ab upward climb year after year. I too like Hood a lot, and have extremely high hopes for him, but lets not act like we have a huge NBA sample size on him just yet. He was great at the end of last year, but Alec has also done a lot of improving, and is more proven in the NBA. Training camp, and preseason will be very interesting. This, my friends, is an awesome problem to have. W/ Alec injured and out, and Hood injured and a rookie, our SG production sucked last year. Now we have two guys who look more than capable, w/o hitting the market.

You're missing my point. I believe, due to potential spacing issues with Favors & Gobert in the frontcourt, that the starting lineup needs a volume 3-pt shooter at SG. I'm not trying to discredit Burks' improving 3-pt shot, I just believe that Hood is more capable of providing what I believe that the starting lineup will need out of it's SG. I'm not pretending to have a large sample size on Hood, but I do believe that you have to take the samples that we do have into account.

1,064 minutes played
.365% 3-pt
5.8 attempts

Burks (4th year):
899 minutes played
.382% 3-pt
2.7 attempts

To me, those #'s show me 2 things:

1) Burks, while putting up a better percentage, did so in less minutes & on less than half the attempts which proves that he is not capable of being the volume 3-pt shooter that Hood is.

2) Hood shot .017% worse in his 1st year in the league on more than double the attempts, which proves that he has more potential than Burks as a volume 3-pt shooter.

None of this is meant as a knock on Burks & I respect your opinion if you disagree that the starting lineup needs an additional volume 3-pt shooter along with Hayward. I just think you may have misunderstood the point I was trying to make, which is that Hood is a better fit in the starting lineup (although that could change depending on who the starting PG ends up being).

Edit: After reading the rest of your responses, I agree that age & situation has to be taken into account, but I don't believe that it changes the fact that Burks game will always be based off of attacking the rim while Hood will always be more of a pure shooter.
