The Serial Podcast

A third option is Jay was forced by cops to blame it on Adnan and neither did it.

I see that as an actual option, although pretty unlikely.

Ritz, the lead detective, got in trouble a few years after this case for using a "2-step" interrogation process in which he pre-interrogates suspects and witnesses while not recording, then once they hash out the details he turns on the tape and they run back through the interrogation for the record. He would feed info to witnesses and then record them feeding it back.

Jays story doesn't make any sense.

There is one piece of info Jay provides that makes him special, the location of the car. That's all Jay has.

His timeline is impossible, all 4 of them.

I'm sorry. But it's just really hard to believe that this Jay guy was talked into fabricating the story. It's puts himself at too much risk of being charged with murder himself, and also being convicted of accomplish to murder. Plus, why would the cops be feeding him an ever changing story? So the cops can't keep their owners straight, they tell him to say different things each time? Why would the cops risk their own careers with this nonsense? Why wouldn't Jay say something to somebody?

It's much more believable that Jay did it and blamed it on Adnan. I can accept that. I believe it's one or the other. My guess it's Adnan. He's gotta do better than just playing dumb and not trying to defend himself. He chose not to take the stand. He chooses not to suggest it's Jay. He can't remember what he was doing that day He's just denying it. Breaking News, people lie about crimes all the time.

As far as I know I DON'T like podcasts. I heard the first episode because I listen to This American Life pretty much every time I brew beer (during the mash, in particular) and one time they played this instead of their regular show. I liked it and kept listening and eventually donated $20 to the show in the hope that they'd make a second season.

I asked my sister if she'd been listening and she said she hadn't but had been told about it by a couple people. A few days later she said she had listened to the first 8 episodes and would love to get together and talk about the show.

It's good ****. 100% guaranteed.

Listened to the whole thing over the long Christmas break.

I'm about 70-80% that Adnan is guilty, but probably would have voted to acquit if I were on the jury.
