Quoting Lopo, and I tip my hat to him for initiating this discussion: "Jabari Parker - the million dollar question. Who is he really? Is his offense worth his questionable defense? Would Quin make him a star because Bucks' coaching has been so poor? How much does he want? He will be discussed at length."

The Milwaukee fans at Real GM seem to detest Parker, and that has cooled my interest in acquiring him. But I have to wonder if at the right price, we should take a look. If Favors leaves and Milwaukee doesn't want Parker, it's conceivable that Snyder could improve the dude's performance.

Defense is the other area of his game that leaves a lot to be desired. Teams constantly attack him in pick-and-rolls and isolations when he’s on the floor. He’s not strong enough to bang down low with most big men and doesn’t possess the lateral quickness to stay in front of wings his size.

Very few of these options are better than Favors. Unless we can land a big name FA or big name in trade we should keep our guy that is young, still improving, knows our system, gets along with the team, knows his role, and is overall a better player than most.

We have stretch 4 guys on the roster. Snyder uses them when he feels the matchup is right. He uses Favors when the matchup is right and as a backup 5.

I think Parker or Gordon would be good options but I dont think we can land either of them.

We dont have the resources to get Leonard nor do I think he wants to come here so its a waste.

Carroll would be fine but not an upgrade over Favors. Ilyasova is fine but not an upgrade over Favors and we have a guy that can more or less do what he does in Jerebko.

Love would be okay but I think we would give up too much for him.

Looney would be a decent development guy if we could get him for cheap.

No to Tolliver. He has played for every team in the NBA and never stuck. He is shooting well this year but this year is much higher than most years and he will be 33 next season. I guess he is a slight upgrade to Jerebko but I am not sure how much.

I’d be for keeping Favs on a one year overpay with a team option on year two... I don’t think I want him on a multi year agreement... one knee injury and he’s untradeable and your cap space evaporates.

The market for bigs is just so saturated.

The organization talks big. Lindsey's running quote has been to have financial flexibility so Utah could be players in free agency. That has never happened because he puts his tail between his legs whenever the market for a good player goes beyond the bargain basement price.

Disagree with this take. He's conservative because the market demands it. How many teams overpaid role players the past few years? Heck, I actually think the Hayward max would have turned out to be a bad choice, because he isn't a #1 option and never will be.

Yeah, there may not be better options this year, but there could be better options next year so I agree that I'd avoid giving him a multiyear agreement (unless it's a ridiculously good contract, which isn't going to happen because someone will pay him this year). Plus, it's easy to forget how many games he has missed the last two years. Who knows when that back goes back out.

I disagree with your disagreement. There were bargain FAs we could have signed prior to the cap spike everyone knew was coming. We declined to do so... we were making money and living at the salary floor. I believe the trust arrangement will change this and I believe some of the younger Millers were more concerned about cash flow in the past. I agree we needed to keep some powder dry but could have done shorter deals... this is where the bakking cakks discussions came from.

It's over and done with now and we have the flexibility this year and next to do something fairly dramatic if we want.

I don't think DL put his tail between his legs btw... I think he was operating on a lower budget unless something amazing came down the pipe... nothing amazing came so he kept the powder dry. Was smart in the cap spike year, but a little short sighted the year before.

My hope is we were banking those low budget years to spend when we need to keep a contender together.

With regard to Parker and Gordon... I think you let someone else overpay for them and trade for them later if you want. I think both will be disappointing unless they find fantastic situations. Gordon is less likely to disappoint but I think on a max deal he could be a Harrison Barnes level "success". Not a lot of value upside unless they both improve quite a bit.

Parker would be a huge mistake, IMO. Gordon has improved every year (except for FG% this year because he was chucking up more 3s). I'm not a huge fan, just saying. I generally agree with either value or high upside.

Jabari's injury history scares the crap out of me, I would only have significant interest if we had a very team-friendly deal.

On the other hand, I could definitely get behind Aaron Gordon. Like others have stated, I don't see any way that we could actually swing it. But he's still only 22 years old, is probably a top-5 athlete in the league and can shoot it well enough from 3 to be a threat. A lineup of Exum, Mitchell, Gordon, Gobert, and anyone else would really overwhelm teams with size and athleticism.

Man people really hate Parker. Off injury he still put up a 17 PER with a 53% eFG. You want a stretch four and he's literally the perfect skillset, and a free agent who might actually come here.

Yea, it's a risk but so is trading assets for Tobias Harris, and we have no clue if that's even a realistic option. Parker has already averaged 20 points a game in a season, 22 years old, and he puts up decent numbers in a ****** system, with Joe ****ing Prunty coaching him. If DL and Quin meet with him, and are impressed and really think that he is ready to take the next step in his career and wants to be part of a team where he fits in. Man, I think it could be a homerun. I think it's the highest upside move, and not even the potential worst possible move. Because at worst he only costs us cap space.

One player who doesn't care about defense is enough to wreck any system and any team, even when you have Gobert. I don't know if Parker does not care, but we can't just add a defensive zero and expect to keep an elite defense.

If Favors leaves and big name free agents fall through Australian Brock Motum might be a good reserve. He is playing in Europe now, is 6'10" and played on a couple of Jazz Summer League teams and was on Australia's Olympic team. Ingles and X would approve of the move.
