The transubstantiation of Derrick Favors

Dirk Favors is now shooting 37.5% from deep, which is approximating Dirk Nowitzki’s career percentage of 38.3%.

Also, I’m not sure we win the last two games without his offensive boards. Those were huge.

I don't know if its real or not, but I'm intrigued. Maybe they saw much more of this in practice that led DL to give him that big contract.

In 6 games of November he's hitting 60% from three.. made 4 consecutive threes now, this is not easy. In fact the probability is 4.1% for the league's best 3P shooter.
Sample size is too small. But Brook Lopez managed to add a reliable three pointer in 7th or 8th year of his career, perhaps Fav can too.
I kind of like Fav's shooting form.. Certainly more than Exum's... and Rubio's too.

Favors has played well the last couple games. That corner 3 late in the game was big. Gasol and JJJr are tough for him, but he did well.

I like his form too..... he just has to be really open due to his super slow release.

Per 36, Favors is averaging 18.1 points, 11.3 rebounds (career high), 2.1 blocks with a career high 61.9% TS% and 37.5% from 3 on 1.3 attempts per game.

He’s having a heck of a year.

Gotta get those contract bonuses

I came to post this. He's 3rd highest in scoring per 36, behind DM and AB. he's 2nd in Ortg/drtg differential, behind Monster G (excluding Udoh). 22 PER, .62 ts%. He's at 2.1 blocks per 36 too, compared to Monster's 2.5.

I think the spacing issue is more of a Ricky problem than Favs problem at the moment. Favs has been solid in most games and great in some. He’s always a guy you want just a little more from and I think that’s where we get frustrated with him.

We want him to haul in one or two more rebounds that he gets his hand on or develop a post move. He’s solid on both ends and don’t deserve the criticism he gets. Tough AF and plays through physical issues. If I was another team in need of a center I’d be all for getting him.

I think I’d rather move on from Ricky before Favs. Even when Ricky is making shots I don’t trust it and these shooting lows are tough to play through.

For me it's that he doesn't consistently impact every game, but the same can be said of everyone besides Gobert. Favors is the quiet impact type and it's easy to not see his contributions. He doesn't rebound as good as Favors but he's still solid and knows where to position himself. He grabbed a board last game that clanked off the front of the rim by moving to where he thought it would go before it hit rim. It wasnt a contested rebound that would have went to Utah regardless but it showed the small things he does that often go unnoticed.

9 of his 12 games he's scored double figures... 8 games he's shot over 50%. He's just steady. If the 3 pt shot is real then he's great to have. I am convinced Ricky is the biggest problem with the offense by a mile and that we should move on from that experiment before moving away from Favs.

I'm aware. I've been the most vocal supporter of what Favors brings, even when it doesn't stuff the box and he has been awful ugly at times this season. His presence impacts without being noticed and he's hindered offensively by playing out of position. QS has built this offense around the best rim runner in the game. Favors can fill that role probably as good as anyone not named Gobert, who is above and beyond with his soft handed ability to get shots up above the rim that make me say WTF every game. It's probably the power in those chiseled arms...

Ricky, eh. Utah still needs a quick first step facilitator and Ricky fills that role. Even Donovan defers to him except during crunch time. His flat 3 point shot still makes me cringe but so does AB's that doesn't seem to miss. Another side note, was anyone else shocked that his box was 3 of 20 or something? Not what i saw.

Back to Ricky, he just can't score enough to threaten with his speed in PnR. Way to many turnovers, call them Ricky Lobovers. Loboverfest at Olive Garden. Joe does the same damn thing but the speed retarded version. I'm guessing Joe's is reasonably efficient though even if ugly. Regardless, Ricky's role needs to be filled or the offense has to change. PnR bailing bucket is what it is.
