What's new

The USA is a police state

But poisoning people is still outlawed but still seems to happen.

Yes death will always happen in some form....im saying it would be great if we could get rid of things that have a main purpose of killing.

Like i said, i dont think the main purpose of bleach is killing people...... just like the main purpose of knives is not killing people. Guns, grenades, rocket launchers and the like were made for killing and i think it would be great if we didn't need those things and we could get rid of them due to the lack of need.

Hell, im all for getting rid of bleach too, if we can find a new way to do what bleach does without the harmful chemicals.
Just like im all for getting rid of cars if we have another option that works as well as a car (in fact im buying a 2200 dollars electric bike next month to drive to work)

I bet there are a number of rodents that would argue this point...

Ok then, in this hypothecal world if there are no bug/rodent issues then hell ya, im all for getting rid of bug spray and rat poison! That would be awesome cause there would be less people dying from poisoning as well.

Last I checked bleach was not used for rodents and bugs...

Guns are necessary to hunt food. Sure, you can get food other ways in this day and age. And you can get from point a to point b without a car in this day and age too. And you certainly don't "need" a swimming pool.

I cant really get from my house to everywhere i need to go without a car unfortunately so i still need my car sometimes..... i can get to alot of places without my car (and i used public transportation in those situations) but not everywhere.... hell buses dont even go to where i work.

As for the swimming pool thing.... I LOVE swimming but i would be willing to give it up if banning swimming saves lots of lives.... but thats just how i am, i like it when less people die.

OK in all seriousness.

Banning guns is simply not the answer. But things can be done. Such as linking mental health records to back ground checks. And simple enforcement of the current laws...see the following link.

Again stoked, im talking about a highly unlikely hypothetical situation where no one is using guns to rob people or to murder ect ect..... so you no longer need them for protection... but guns are still killing and injuring people accidentally..... In an extremely inlikely hypothetical situation like that, would you be ok IF guns no longer existed?

You can absolutely get around without a car. Get a horse. Or get a bike and ride it to the bus stop.

Is it as convenient as a car? No, not at all. But you don't absolutely "need" a car, there are alternatives. And these alternatives would result in reducing the far and away #1 cause of accidental death. Plus it would help clean up the worst air in the nation (Salt Lake) and probably stop a lot of deaths that result from poor air quality. Not to mention the whole climate change thing.

It sounds like you have bigger things than guns to worry about if you're really only concerned with stopping accidental deaths.

Im not discussing what is going on currently or trying to argue for the banning of assault rifles or magazine sizes or anything like that.... there is already a thread for that discussion.

The discussion i am having is that if no one ever needed a gun again for protection at all, but people were still dying from guns being discharged accidentally, then would you be ok with guns no longer existing? (btw i know this is an extremely unlikely and retarted scenario, but just answer the question assuming everything in the hypothetical was true)

So you are asking "If the world was completely different, would you be different too?"

This is a silly question that answers itself. Everyone would be different and have a different views on everything.

Like i already said, im all for banning cars if there is something invented (teleportation) that is as effective as a car..... question is, would you be for banning guns if something was invented that was just as effective as gun for protection but was not lethal?

I agree it is a silly question.... but i also find is silly that stoked and salty will never open thier minds even a little to say that they would be ok with no guns if guns were not neccessary.

Do police/military/cia/etc have guns in your hypothetical?

I'm fine with banning guns as long as they're banned for everyone. I'm not okay with banning them for most people and then allowing some elitist ruling class to have them. We're all equal, right?

No I would not.

I knew that would be your answer.... i guess you just like people to die too much.

I would be fine if cars were banned, if we didnt need em... in fact i would be way happy about it. (lower polution, save me money, save lots of lives... whats not to like)

Is that how you want this to go? If so I can go there.

I guess you are ok with people not having rights. You are pro slavery.
