The wait is annoying (Hayward thread #896)

So this should expose their claim of George being willing to sign an extension with the Celtics as total BS. George's value is considerably higher in that scenario than if he's a rental risk.

Boston would be insane to take that deal. Two possible top 5 picks and starters. I'd hang up. Even if I got Hayward and knew George would sign an extension that's a risky *** move.

Our best bet is Paul ends up somewhere that isn't Boston before Bayward signs.

The wait is killing me.

I check Hoopshype like every five minutes. And I just looked at the calendar, we could have a week or longer of waiting.
I saw Boston is trying to schedule a meeting on Tuesday rather than Sunday. If this continues I might need to talk to a therapist about my Jazz addiction.

Nobody is going to help you create a superteam in their conference without a heavy price. Those picks may or may not be valuable. The Celtics had an opportunity to deal the pick they used on Brown at a higher value than he has now. They just had a #1 pick overall and came away with 2 picks that may come nowhere close to dealing that #1 pick.

Ainge's plan to collect assets and build a championship team was to cash in those assets on a big deal like he did with KG. He's literally been waiting years for the right opportunity, and now he looks like he's going to whiff yet again because of his addiction to keeping picks. Should've had Butler already and blew it.

Anyway, like I said, there is a massive difference in value between George on a 3 year extension and the possibility of losing him in a year. Regardless, Indy isn't going to give him away with an extension.

Watch Ainge whiff on George and Hayward, just to end up paying IT 35 million a year after trading away Fultz. Things could get ugly in Boston as Danny Ainge appears on an episode of hoarders, buried under a stack of newspapers and draft picks.

Let's just acknowledge the fact that Hayward didn't get on the all NBA team. Among the voters was a dude who voted Isiah Thomas all defense and Lamarcus Aldridge DPOY. Broussard didn't vote Avery Bradley all defense because Booker scored 70 on his team. Avery Bradley did not play that night. These people take it as a joke with millions of dollars on the line for players. Jimmy Butler can't get the mega max anymore. If Hayward had gotten the nod over him this long nightmare wouldn't even exist.

In my opinion if the Jazz were forced into paying Hayward the mega-max their salary cap situation would be truly awful instead of "just barely manageable". So, assuming Hayward signs with the Jazz, I'll take the annoying wait over the serious salary cap issues.

Imo if the jazz had to pay hayward the Megamax then that would just be a different nightmare

But Utah wouldn't be forced into paying Hill $20-25m for 4 years in order to keep Hayward. Utah could go with a guy like Rubio for 2 years and have Exum take over...or even Mitchell?

I take all the awards as a joke. If the players didn't like it, they should have pulled it out of the CBA.

Rubio doesn't come for free. You'd lose assets to acquire him. Besides, I'd rather have Hill's shooting than Rubio's playmaking.

Also, it remains to be seen what kind of contract Hill gets. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 3 year deal. If SA signs someone else or isn't able to clear cap space, maybe Utah will pay a little more and get a TO on the 3rd year.

Is anyone in the entire media aware that Utah is a good team, with a good foundation, and an amazing young big man who is the best defender in the league? Anyone?

I just watched two people argue on ESPN where Hayward will end up. They mentioned who he'd be meeting with and the only other mention of Utah was both agreeing "well Utah is easily third on that list"
One argued Miami one argued Boston. Utah was never brought up again.

I hate this ****

That's ok, they'll just look that much more foolish when he re-signs here.

The draft came up faster than free agency this year. Odd. I guess I was just busier a few weeks ago? Needless to say, I am excited to see what comes next. Tonight is the deadline for the $16 million cap savings... Do we just sit on our hands? I don't think so, but we could... I mean, it takes 2 to tango.
