The wait is annoying (Hayward thread #896)

Care to make an avatar wager? If he stays I get to pick your avatar for the next two months, if he goes you get to pick mine?
An eating crow avatar? Or a BYU one since I'm a Zags fan? Probably a screenshot of the final score.

As I said, I REALLY hope Hayward re-signs. I could never bet for something I hope doesn't happen. Maybe we can bet on the Zags-Cougs games next season. Even with Gonzaga losing key players, they'll still be better than BYU.

But ok. Let's do it.

Ok, you're on. :)

I'm by no means convinced about next year's BYU basketball team, though. Doubt that I'll make that wager.

The wait is still annoying.

I thought July 1st we'd have a really good idea, but he won't even be meeting us until the third. Sigh.

I have absolutely no idea what Wayward plans to do, actually hate that he's putting us through this. However I do believe that if he does leave, he'll be making the biggest mistake of his life.

What happens when the Celtics come to Utah if he leaves?

I honestly think the dude deserves a standing ovation, but I don't think we'll give it to him. I don't even know if I could. But he seems like a good dude and he will legitimately do what he thinks is best for him and his family. We may disagree on what that is, but I can't hate someone doing that.

I'm kind of seeing Haywardless Jazz, Mitchell getting lots of minutes and showing potential. Same with Dante. Hood takes the next step. Rudy still Rudy and playing like a betrayed man who now is the leader of a franchise. Favors healthy and thriving.

That's still a pretty good team, and fun. If that was the situation when Hayward came back it would sting to imagine the great success we'd be having with him there. But I think I'd be able to stand up and cheer for the dude.

But he'll get booed like crazy.

Utah built a good team around him, and just got hosed by injuries. If he leaves, he's a ****ing judas and must be booed relentlessly.

Absolutely this. Utah will be a fun team to watch with or without Hayward.

It'd be tough. I think I they definitely want to keep him but if we max him on our end (not so ridiculous, he's good and the hell else are we gonna do?) it'd be tough for them to match.

If Hayward leaves the Jazz will have to double security when the Celts visit.

That was political spin to reinforce stereotypes of white, religious, gun-carrying residents of a red state.

If he spurns the Jazz for the Celtics when the Jazz have a dynamic team that is still on the upswing, I will boo him like crazy. Unless he helps the Jazz secure some assets like Chris Paul going to Houston. In that case I won't cheer him, but I also won't boo him.

I wouldn't boo him but I definitely wouldn't cheer him and I would certainly hate him.

It would be awesome (and unlikely) if he left for boston and then hood or burks or X or favs or bolomboy or whoever made a huge leap (or all of them made a small leap) and at the same time he, and his new boston teammates, struggled and we end up with a better season than boston and even a better season than last year.
We get better, his new team gets worse, and we don't have to pay him 33 million (or whatever it would be) at the same time.
I know it's petty but that would be awesome.

The Boston Celtics consider the Indiana Pacers' most recent trade demand for Paul George to be unrealistic.*
The Celtics are reportedly interested in trading for George if they are able to sign Gordon Hayward in free agency.
Kevin Pritchard is asking the Celtics for the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first round pick as well as the Los Angeles Lakers' 2018 first round pick, plus starting player(s).
George can be a free agent in 2018 and is not certain to re-sign with the Celtics as he's signaled a preference to play for the Lakers.

So this should expose their claim of George being willing to sign an extension with the Celtics as total BS. George's value is considerably higher in that scenario than if he's a rental risk.
