My thoughts exactly. I will still watch the first few episodes to give it a chance, but so far not looking great.
Doesn't help that I am not a fan of Rosamund Pike. I find her to be off-putting in her lack of affect generally. She puts on the emotions when required but it feels like it is a switch on a robot and as soon as the scene is over she will power down and recharge waiting for the next button to be pushed to get her emotion circuitry running. It is better than Kristen Stewart's simply zero personality, but only marginally better.

Twitter's going nuts after the premiere. A lot of die-hard fans like me who got to see the early release are quite pleased and excited, and that's gotta be hard to pull off.
Should be interesting to see if it's any good. I hear the first episode is pretty aggressive.

Some reviews:

Ouch. Thats too bad. Rottentomatoes is the most lenient of review sources too. Usually RT scores are better/higher than most other places and tend to find that even crappy shows/movies get good reviews on RT.

I've been having a laugh reading some of the negative reviews, actually. It's more a comparison to Game of Thrones because that's all they can think of right now. This series is so different from Game of Thrones that it's nuts, but that's the measuring stick.
Should be interesting to see if anything changes with subsequent seasons.

I just hope they dont have so much stereotyping by sex in the show like they did in the books. That was the biggest thing I didn't like about the books. They had a "girls are like this" and "boys are like this" kind of vibe. I type this as I tug on my braid.

It all just looks to clean and fake in the previews. When I look at all the fantasy adaptations to tv, GOT is the only one that did a great job despite the so-so ending. The problem with most fantasy is they have poor acting, cheap editing and awful storylines. These previews felt more Shannara-ish than GOT, which is not good. Hopefully the actually show is decent, but the Tomatometer does not bode well. Of all the major epic fantasy series I have read, WOT sits at the bottom, so if it sucks, I don't really care. Like Fish, I had a hard time reading these, but I did finish the series, mostly because I took the time to read the first 5 or 6 that I burdened through to the end.

Love GOT books. I read the first 4 around 2006. I tried re-reading, but now the tv characters are all I see in my head. Kinda ruins the experience a bit. Ended up putting it back on the kindle shelf for now.

I was really looking forward to the Kingkiller Chronicles, but could see how that series could easily be butchered on the screen. Even unfinished, I have been able to re-read it a number of times and still enjoy it. Really good writing. Like GOT, it is too bad it will likely never be finished. And at this stage, even if GRRM publishes, I'm not sure I'll read it. He really has no motivation to finish at this point.
