There Might be Some Roster Shuffling in the Near Future

I would rather have green at his salary than gay at his salary.

Rudy Gay would be a defensive and rebounding upgrade for Jeff Green and he's only 14M. That's Exum, Niang and loose change. Gay is getting a bit old though, and he's a streaky shooter.

I think the Jazz are one move away from real contention. The rumor has also been that the Spurs like Exum. Don't know why, but you've got to move where the market takes you. The Jazz can get backup guard play from Oni or JWF.

LMA would be a stretchy 4/5.

Rudy Gay is buns on defense. Gay and Lyles getting most of the PF minutes for SA is a massive reason why their defense has been awful.

Go watch his G League highlights... bodies just drop around him... he is a bull. Would have loved to see him up with the big boy team for the Giannis matchup... throw him out there for 5-10 minutes and just have him put that beef on the Freak for a bit... I mean Brantley stood his *** up in pre-season... I know its pre-season, but Giannis was beasting our dudes that game so it felt kinda meaningful.
I wanna beef on the freak so bad.

If Brantley gets into the rotation, it will probably come at the expense of Niang and possibly Jeff Green. The rationale would be that we already have enough shooters and Brantley is a better rebounder than Niang. As for Jeff Green, both Conley and Mudiay average more rebounds than he does. Defensive rebounding is costing the Jazz games, and that opens a door in the rotation more than anything else.

Another thing to watch will be if Justin Wright-Foreman gets called up to play backup minutes at the 2-guard spot, so Ingles can stay at the 3 or 4.
I'm sold. Call him up.

Right now, Mitchell looks good, Bogdanovic looks good, and Rudy looks good (when he's not coming off a sprained ankle).

Ingles is okay when he gets rest and doesn't have to play too many minutes.

Royce is basically a defensive specialist, and a fairly decent one. We play him at the 4, though I'm not convinced that's his best position.

I'm not sure if Mudiay is really a point guard, tbh, even though we're pretending he is.

Jeff Green is still a soft defender in the paint and an off-and-on rebounder.

What the Jazz need is a still-in-his-prime Trevor Ariza to give us 3/D at the 4.

LMA isnt a stretch big, he's a pick n pop mid-range player.

Gay being an upgrade over Green? Marginally (at best) at what, 7x the cost?

I wouldnt go as far as saying Royce being a starter is a big problem, but he's easily been my least favorite Jazz player to watch this year. I didnt expect a huge offensive leap, but I thought he'd come into the season with more confidence to shoot the ball when open.

How on Earth is Mudiay not a PG? Like what are you saying? This isnt the 90's where the definition of a PG is a rigid thing.

It's a sad state of affairs that we're pinning any hopes on a homey homie to substantially improve the team. But here I am.

Just watched Brantley and JRF highlights. Both look confident and skilled. Glad to see the progression.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but JWF could be a player. He looks better than Dennis Smith Jr. to me--better handle, better in-between game, better shot off the bounce, much better instincts and timing. He also has slightly plus athleticism for a guard.

He doesn't look to get others involved unless his drive is cut off. I see him being like a Tyreke Evans who had a resurgence when he wasn't expected to be a primary ball handler.

Green is actually a really solid defender when he gives the effort. He takes certain plays off though. And he doesn't rebound like he should given his athleticism.

Not gonna happen for a lot of reasons but I'd be interested to see Dante and Joe with the starting lineup. I think it might work. Dante protects the ball and plays good D. We need his length. He's also good at the pick/roll. Joe is starting to heat up and we could use his offense over Royce.

I know it's a pipe dream and Dante couldn't even handle the minutes but I'm pretty jaded regarding Conley.
