Of course its creepy. But a lot of **** they did back then was creepy from our point of view. Hell even look at just 40 years ago when it was illegal for black and whites to marry.
 
As a teacher, I find this ridiculous. Age of consent rules seems to reflect the fact that those making them couldn't get laid in high school. Having sex at 14 or 15 is pretty freaking normal. If it's not, I've taught nothing but criminals and deviants.

And we wonder why the world is getting worse and worse every day.

Until parents decide to take their kids back and raise them with some sort of dignity, it will just get worse.

18 and 14 are light years apart in maturity and decision making. 14 year olds are dumb. They don't know what they want. They don't know how they feel about things or what they want out of life. Any 18 year old scamming on a 14 year old is trash.

So perhaps the coach walked in on them doing something, or some teammates witnessed something and told the coach? At any rate, it seems the coach informed the parents.

The parents could very well have that as their motive for deciding to go ahead and press charges. Of course, the prosecution is going to deny it's at all gender related - whether or not they believe it is another matter entirely.

I think what I have the most trouble understanding in a situation like this is why would the parents of the younger girl want to put her through something like this? Just makes no sense to me.

Yes, because 18 year olds know how they feel and what they want in life.

Girl mature faster than boys, emotionally anyway. 16 year old boys don't date 16 year old girls, because 16 year old girls are dating 18 or 20 year old boys. It's just how it works. You can rant and rave about it and wring your hands at the moral decay of our society, but that's how kids are.

Because kids talk loudly about this sort of stuff in the hallway and in the cafeteria. Because you see them holding hands in the hallway and I don't break it up like some people would expect me to do. Because you coach sports and boys will even tell you, let alone their teammates on the bus. Because 4-5 times a semester, you will have some student go into absolute break-down mode over something their significant other has done and cause a public scene.

Good grief, I'm a teacher and I care. How the hell would I not know if my students are dating one another? It's not like they hide it. It's not a religious school or anything.

& it matters definably how if that "target" is 1 year older or 3 months younger or two years younger or... 3.5 years younger and the aggressor, as many many many 14 year olds were when I was that age???

It's not anywhere back and white enough to ruin scores of lives for following their carnal instincts. Besides, evolution has dictated young women chase older "established" men who could provide. Why do you think they mature earlier?

I don't know where the hell you live but Ive never seen a 16 year old date a 20 year old...Nor a 14 year old and an 18 year old.

I never did. Most people never did. That's why most people are disgusted by this. That's why what that girl did is illegal. That's why the 14 year old's parent want justice over their child being raped.
