This is where you finally turn in your Ante Tomic pick. Locke said a while back that he heard from a few scouts that if Tomic were in this draft he would be ranked in the top 5-6 big men and top 15 in the draft. A mature talented player like that that they can stash overseas one more year and avoid the cap hold of any picks should be more than enough. I actually think that to take on Robinson who they simply depreciated his value themselves by not playing him... is their problem. We actually would be well within our right as a conference foe who is giving them the most legitimate shot at landing DHoward should not only get T Rob but pick #34 from Houston.
.
They can sell it to their fans very easily... fans love GM's that swing for the fences. No one in Houston is complaining about losing Kevin Martin for one year, and two now meaningless picks to them... they have an All Star for what: A guy they weren't going to resign who is on the last legs of a career (k Martin), Lamb who won't compete (his knock in college is playing out), and the draft rights to someone in the late lottery of a terrible draft, and the maverick pick in the 20's. That is the biggest fleecing in history, and they did it in broad daylight to a team that with Harden should have dominated the west for years to come and are now left picking up the pieces.
If Daryl Morey gets D Howard and part of making that happen was dumping a PF with upside... his fanbase will forgive him in a heartbeart because he dared to dream big!
For us, if we want it Dennis Lyndsay has the roots in Houston to make this happen.
Its a good deal for us: We reestablish his value this year and flip TRob at next years draft for the pick we want to build around!
We use #34 to move up.
My plan: Do this deal and get #34... Then take on Kendrick Perkins for #12...
Draft #12 Dennis Schroeder
#14 Shabazz
#21 Dieng or Use #34 and #21 to move up with Atlanta at #17 for Dieng or Plumlee.
PG, SF, C Possible 1 - 2 starters, all three rotations guys at least.
