Timeline on the New Logo

Oh sweet Jesus. Epic fail. This organization needs to get a better marketing team. I mean holy ****, that floor logo, and "Utah on the butt" sounds so retarded I think someone needs to assassinate Grand Harrison. If they were going back to the note they needed to streamline the whole thing. They already looked liked they didn't know what they wanted to to do the last few years and now it's going to look even worse now. So you got the old logo floor with the new colors that will probably look like utter ****(are they going to paint the rest of the floor to match it?) and from that other thread in sounds like they may even use the jersey's they been wearing since the last update. Go all the way or stay like you were before. And that doesn't even include ****** decisions they made with the new uniform (Utah on the butt) It's going to look like a jumbled mess. Tacky. '

And yes I'm blowing this out of proportion...but ****.

"So, I just got confirmation, that the logo that I posted earlier will in fact be the new primary logo. They just re-colored the old one because of a stipulation that would have levied a fine if they had entirely re-designed it until a few more years had passed. However, the note logo will be featured most prominently on uniforms, etc.

I also saw the new uniforms today, and they use the note logo. White homes, Navy Blue away's, both have side paneling, and they say "Utah," on the butt of the shorts. Neck's are V necks. Reminiscent of the old ones, but with a definite modern look. They look pretty good IMO. I will try to see if I can get a file uploaded here. Right now I only have it on an illustrator file, so I might not be able to upload it to a PDF until later."

This is totally ridiculous. The Jazz organization sucks at times.

Seems like the reason for this is that the Jazz would be fined 500k for changing the primary logo. Maybe you should chip in to offset that fine.

If they're going to half-*** it, might as well keep the logo as it is.

I've never been a fan of the mountains logo. I thought it was too 90s. With that said, just changing the color scheme on the logo isn't what many fans expected when the franchise discussed the potential of a logo change. It's not a logo change. It's a re-colorization of the same logo this franchise has had since 1997. Now maybe the franchise is fine with that. Whatever. But yeesh. We're now working on the third color scheme in fifteen years. The second in five.

It is ridiculous.

So now instead of getting the logo we all expected, we're getting a rehash of what we've had. Sure, they're avoiding a $500,000 fine. But how much of that $500,000 could easily be made up in sales of a new, true logo change?

If you're not going all in, don't go in at all.
 
Well, with what I've been reading, the note will be the de facto primary logo. "Officially", the mountain is still the main logo and will be at center court. The jerseys and all the other stuff will have the yet to be revealed note.

But it's still the primary logo. It's not as if the current logo is on the jerseys anyway. In fact, not many teams have their logo on their jerseys.

Basically, the logo is an adjustment of the boring UTAH and JAZZ font seen on the home/away jerseys currently.

This isn't a logo change. It's a uniform change and a revamping of the same logo.

That's the problem. I think we were all under the impression Utah would be changing its logo. Not just updating its secondary logo. So while others will incorporate the note, it still won't be the primary logo.

Maybe it seems trivial (however, the fact we're all anticipating a logo change kind of defeats that argument), but I was expecting a total overhaul. Not just a color change and a bit more emphasis on the secondary logo.

Well, take this for what it's worth...this was from Greg Miller's last mailbag:

Hi Greg this is Mike, I am a huge Jazz fan! It’s driving me crazy that I don't know what the new colors and uniforms are for 2011. Could you just give me a heads up on what we are expecting?


Mike, your question has been noted. (That’s a clue). The new logo will be unveiled in mid-June, with new merchandise available at FANZZ the minute it’s released. The new uniforms will not be unveiled until mid-August."

I believe the logo change has been in the works for while which would make Utah exempt from paying the fine if I understand correctly.
 
One way or another, I hope they can make the green unis the official alternate. While I did kinda like the baby blues aesthetically, the Jazz record in them was awful, and they looked too much like the Nuggets.
 
I don't know, I really don't think the new logo will look like what was posted. Mostly because that looks terrible. Sounds like a hoax to me.

And come on, the team paid like $6M in luxury tax alone last season. $500,000, if that rule is even true, is pocket change at this point. That's what they paid Sundiata Gaines to sit on his butt this season. $500k in the NBA doesn't mean jack, I hardly would think they would use that as an excuse to not change the logo.

However, if true and that's the new logo.. wow. Fail.

Yeah, I have to say I'll be sticking with my old gear if that's the new logo. I don't even know what to say...
 
No idea, it's just something that is floating around the internet. I'd guess it's a "rough draft" of sorts. The new jerseys will have the note on them though and they won't just be alternate jerseys...that much is clear.
