To the "we're better without Conley" crew

And if they're both right, then who goes to the bench...?

(I'm not actually stating that Conley coming off the bench is a feasible idea in reality)

It has to begin and end with the quality of play that comes out of Gobert/Mitchell/Ingles/Bogey. Add from there, and subtract nothing.

Until he proves that he can complement those guys, Conley should just check out first early. Play him with the bench guys as much as possible, then play Clarkson or Royce in the 4th until Mike figures it out.

Coming back from injury is the perfect opportunity to redefine his role.

I'm not sure about the idea of him not closing, but I'm with you on the rest.

Mike Conley shows great defensive skill but is short. Given that caveat, Isiah Thomas immediately comes to mind.

Kyle Lowry might also fit your criteria.

As might Tony Parker.

Anyway, I don't like this argument. Some correlation and 0 causation.

I’m not sure Parker was bad defensively. He wasn’t small. He was 6’4” iirc. Sorry, 6’2”. But that’s average.

Most media are very defensive of Conley and at the same time negative towards Mudiay

Can you blame them? Mike Conley's been a top 10 NBA point guard for a decade and Mudiay's been a bust his whole career. Conley definitely deserves respect from the media.

Here's something to consider. In the last 10 games since the schedule has eased up. How many people honestly miss Conley? Hardley doubt the number is very high.

That’s kind of like a guy getting fired but then getting a big tax refund and telling his wife “I bet you don’t miss my ****ing job now, do ya!?”
