For more reasons than intentionally trying to lose games right now, Lauri needs to take some rest games and probably not play much more than 30 minutes a game.
39 minutes last night.
What the **** are we doing? Even if we were in the running for a championship he shouldn't have played 39 minutes last night.

I know why you say this, but aside from that, Lauri’s average of 35.8 minutes per game isn’t unusual. Fifty players in the league average over 33 minutes per game. Even old dudes like James Harden and Kevin Durant have averaged more minutes per game than Lauri this season.

Also, the opposite, giving him more minutes, might work better for us. If Lauri makes the All-Star Game again, his trade value will be high. And if teams like the Pistons, Spurs, Heat, or Raptors start losing games, they could get desperate and make an offer the Jazz can’t refuse. Personally, I don’t want to trade Lauri, but I can see this scenario as possible, and with a great offer, I would be ok with it.

Meanwhile, half the league’s all-stars are sidelined with injury and the train of the game’s increasing strain producing injuries just keeps building speed.

He’s also a giant playing a style of above-average mobility for his size and has an affinity for amassing nagging injuries that sap his effectiveness. Him making an all-star game relies on the Jazz being good enough (bad outcome) and him being healthy (unlikely outcome if we keep grinding him down). He will be worth more if he’s healthy than if he’s not. Period.

There is no reason to be doing this.

Screw the tank. Having said that, losing walker will hurt the win total a lot. Silver lining is hopefully the rest will learn better defence in the vacuum his loss will create. However they will only learn this if they actively try to win.

Biggest reason to be somewhat confident in the tank is Key/Lauri have been having career years and likely won't play at that level all season if they are being dragged down by a few rotation players.
