Trade deadline discussion

From everything I've read and heard on the radio from guys like Tony Jones and Andy Larsen, Ainge is the guy and will have the final say on any moves that are made.
If Ainge brings a deal to Ryan he’s going to go for it. So if he wants something I think he’s getting it.

6th year of contention huh? This is our third year in my estimate.
Probably longer than 6 years. There’s contention every year and the end of every year that I can remember I’ve felt like **** and gotten angry.

We know that Q has power and influence enough to force out a GM. That’s evidence of power-sharing. There’s no way Danny was invited into a situation where he’s gonna get to waive his ego around and quickly reshape the team in his image. I mean, he doesn’t even have many assets to facilitate that kind of thing anyway.

If we make a big move this year, then thats something all of the interested parties have already discussed.

This is true… but I also believe Ainge isn’t dumb and won’t push for some wild change that everyone is opposed to.

I think we probably need to take some Valium. Doubt anything major happens in part because we don’t have much to sell off that isn’t a part of the current rotation.

I think next year we do need some changes if we don’t have a good playoff run… given Danny’s history he’s more likely to offload Mike, Bogey, than Rudy. If we did move on from Rudy I think Ainge will get great value in the deal. He was good at collecting assets and extracting value in trades. He seemed to be decisive and move quickly in one direction or another. I’m not super impressed with his drafting history but whatevs.

I guess the good thing is he definitely has influence and I think he won’t hesitate when the time to retool or rebuild comes.

I am worried about that too. He has a real cavalier/maverick attitude toward this stuff. I am afraid he is going to lean on his own "expert" status and new position as CEO, combined with his superficial "knowledge" of the team, and start making wholesale changes. I could see Rudy getting packed up and sent out to bring back like Bam or something, with some wings in the mix in some multi-team deal or something, because Ainge buys into the media interpretation that we lost in the playoffs last year because the greatest defensive center of this generation "can't guard on the perimeter", which is ********* plain and simple. I have definite concerns about that kind of thing happening. I hope they are unfounded but he saw success making big swings in the past and I imagine he will want to do the same thing here. I sure hope not though.

(please note, I use the Rudy example above simply as a spit-ball scenario off the top of my head as an example of the KIND of scenario we might see, not the EXACT one I actually think will happen, so I will not argue that point. Seems this board cannot grasp the idea of hypotheticals.)
also my fear.

Danuel House would have to be in consideration as a 3/D guy who has struggled since Harden left but could revive his career in the right set up.

Also if Thad Young gets a buy out he would be a good option as a small ball five.

Ainge is here for the teardown this offseason when we lose in the second round again.

Marcus Morris, Sr., though an *******, is correct. We’re the same team, and will be exploited the same way come playoff time. And trading for a perimeter defender won’t be enough. We need multiple perimeter defenders and probably even an philosophy change (or at least have a back-up plan and the pieces to implement it when the funneling to Rudy thing just isn’t working and we are getting hammered in the mid-range).

As presently constructed, we are toast if a team can pull Rudy out to the perimeter or if a team can hit midrange shots.

The Jazz need a guy like Scottie Barnes. Royce is tough and he plays hard, but he's just not big/long enough to disrupt teams the way we need. We really need a 6'7" or 6'8" Royce O'Neale.

Rudy Gay could have been that guy 5 years ago, but now he's really starting to show his age. He looks like Donyell Marshall out there.

Phoenix can use Ayton to occupy Rudy, even if he doesn't pull Rudy out of the paint, while Chris Paul and Devin Booker shoot from mid-range. That's going to be a challenge.

So we just need to add a recent top-10 pick with a physical profile that every team wants.

Copy that. Ainge will pull dat out his ***... which is why we hired his ***.

Well, there are other options, obviously, like Jerami Grant. Not saying we'll get it, but that's what the Jazz really need. Royce is supposed to be our lockdown 3D wing, but he's not able to do it.

We just need a Paul George or Lebron James type… that’s what I’d do anyway.
