Trade deadline discussion

Thinking about Grant again. Theoretically he could be the perfect fit. Pretty sure he has played small-ball 5 with some good success in the past. Probably the highest two-way ceiling of anyone that we’ve been talking about (understanding that he’s not put up numbers efficiently). If he hits he could be the lynch-pin to much of the ways we’re trying to improve. And it sounds like this is probably why there’s smoke about this.

It is of course a gamble. And a big one since I expect it takes two 1sts (or a 1st and a proven/promising rookie scale player) to even have a serious conversation.

I stand by my earlier point that the only way you get him and the only way it makes sense is to center it on a package of Bogey but we’d have to involve another team (since he doesn’t fit Detroit’s build window). Who might offer a 1st/good young player for Bogey? We send one of our actual 1sts in the deal, but we’ll need one elsewhere for numerous reasons.

This is more of an exercise than anything. It’s a make-or-break prospect going after him (leaning towards the latter), IMO. But fortune favors the bold and having options fleshed out can’t hurt.

This makes me nervous we are going to trade Butler, really don’t want to.

Butler is probably the Jazz's most interesting young player. A team like Sacramento could put him next to Haliburton, and he'd be a more natural fit than Davion Mitchell. Detroit could put him next to Cade, and he'd be better than Killian Hayes. Butler could be the proverbial George Hill-type versatile combo guard. That's a nice piece to have. Rebuilding teams will probably ask for him to be included in order to make a deal.

Jazz might want to hang on to their young talent
Hughes, Paschall, Forrest, Butler, House, etc all starting to look good

And why would Sac care that much about Ingles health? Not like they trying to win games. COnfusing BS.
They are trying to win though... I can see why it looks confusing because they suck... but they are under heavy pressure to make the play in so Vivek doesn't set the record for most consecutive years out of the playoffs. They REALLY are trying to win now.

He'd give the Jazz some length and athleticism. I don't think he's a starter-level player on the Jazz though. He's more of a backup energy big.

If the Jazz trade for Barnes, I could see them asking for Alex Len as a throw-in.
Y'all don't get it... Sacramento wants to win... I live here... they ain't trying to lose. Every trade they are trying to do is to bring back winning players not to collect assets.

I am not saying its smart but its the damn truth. View Sacramento as a team trying to win... because they are.

If the Jazz are trying to make a big move, I could see them moving Bogey: a) his trade value will only go down from here, b) he gets exposed trying to guard in space, and c) his hand injury could flair up and be a problem in the playoffs. He also gets relegated to just a floor spacer in certain lineups.

Okay, they're very unlikely to make the play-in. Maybe the GM is trying to generate some hope for next season.

I think Atlanta and Washington might (Wizards have lots of forwards but might consolidate to improve). Of course both teams would likely prefer Grant... so we might get cut out of the deal.

Boston, Toronto?

Maybe Detroit settles and takes Bogey back.... sit him to get his finger right... trade him in the offseason or at the draft?

Bogey trades are harder than they should be. If Indiana is thinking about next year they might do something.

I think the GM has a 50/50 shot at getting fired if he doesn't make the play in. Its still possible for them.
