Trade deadline discussion

I think Sabonis is the best player in that trade, but the Kings have a lot to do to support Barnes and Sabonis.
The best player today but not by a wide margin. Halliburton also allows the guys around him to be their best. Sabonis is a great passer but the system must work around him... and the defense will never be good.

There is also the cap aspect here... Kings should have gotten at least one first here. This is going to end up being a terrible deal for the Kings.

If they really wanted a PF they should have done the Fox for Randle and stuff deal.

The Jazz have to do something. If they aren’t getting any value back then they need to realize they can’t compete for a championship and need to get under the luxury tax so they don’t face a repeater tax in future years.

I'd rather be on the Kings than the Pacers tbh.
I think Sacramento is cool... but I also live here so I'm biased. Vivek is just such a **** show. If they get a culture changing coach in they may be able to overcome his dumbassery.

Trash move for the Kings. What in the **** is Sabonis/Fox/Barnes going to do? Make the play-in game?
You get the right coach in there, get one more good starter, Davion Mitchell has a good 2nd year, and some good on the margins moves and yeah, they could make the playoffs.

It's all on Fox/Sabonis.

Oh its job preservation. I honestly think they never get a locked in Zion so if NOLA management and ownership were smart they'd look at what the trade market is and stop trying to build around him to make him happy.

Its hilarious that a guy comes in and is always hurt and then is pressuring the team to get better or he's out... He's given them like half a season of awesome basketball.

It’s really all about what the franchise wants to do and not every franchise is going to try to NBA 2k themselves to a title. Making the playoffs is a reasonable goal when it’s extremely rare for the franchise to do so. Keeping Zion happy, who could be a LeBron/Curry type marketable athlete, is also reasonable.

Even without Zion, CJ should give them enough gas to have one of their better seasons in recent history.

@Saint Cy of JFC

Cy sees it like I do. The Kings did some decent business here.

They are going to give Davion Mitchell (who plays amazing defense) more of a chance to shine. Hield had to go.

I'm sure the Kings would rather trade Fox than Haliburton, but they know they are getting something awesome with Sabonis while shedding Hield.

now that's how you rebuild a franchise. instead of relying on pure draft luck, Pacers got themselves a surefire allstar calibre PG for the next ten years to build around so even if they aren't going anywhere for the next 3 years, they don't have to sweat for one bit because they extended their timeline to 2025 and beyond with Hali at the helm

Sabonis is incredible.

He's playing on a team without real shooters, yet he averages 19ppg, 12rpg and 5apg.
Randle is 19+10+5 and 24+10+6 last season. Everything that makes people hate Randle, Sabonis has them also.

I honestly think they picked the one guy I wouldn't trade on that team. Fox might have had one statistical outlier shooting season and his defense is trashy trash. Davion is good but might have a lower ceiling than some think. Haliburton is so unique and good. He allows you to be really flexible with roster construction and they swapped him for a very inflexible piece. They had 3 point guards they could trade and they picked the worst one of the three to move.

Buddy Hield is overpaid but he's useful. I just... Kangs gonna Kang.
