Trade Gobert Discussion

Not definitely and not immediately, but IF OUR STRUGGLES CONTINUE, consider trading him in January.

Why:
- he is in his prime
- he has a lot of trade value
- he's due a massive payday in 1.5 seasons
- he might decline quickly
- his strengths aren't crucial to win a title in today's NBA
- his weaknesses often limit us
- his frustrations will only grow
- if we overpay him or lose him for nothing, we doom ourselves

Why not:
- he is one of our best players
- he seems happy in Utah (for now)
- he is a great guy

If we are bordering anywhere near .500 come mid-January, we have to consider it. We stand to lose everything in summer 2021 if we don't; Gobert, Conley, our draft pick to Memphis, etc.

I say we ride this out until late January before we do or talk about doing anything crazy. If we're still struggling at that point something drastic has to happen.

But who would give you that star player for Rudy? What team who has start guard/wing/scorer/ball handler - aka Doncic, Kawhi, Harden, George would want to part with them and take on Rudy? Klay? Siakam? neither is realistic options anyway. I think we are stuck with Rudy and just need to make sure pieces around him are fitting properly.

1. He's our best player and the least of our problems.
2. Who would we get that would make us better? Who could we land that would right this **** show?
3. You could (not necessarily should) make a much stronger argument to trade Mitchell. He'd have some real value that would get you a return.

I don't think we can afford to trade him. But things don't look good. We need a rugged PF. Actually, someone like Trevor Booker would be useful right now. And like people have said, we should've tried to trade Dante in the Conley deal instead of Crowder, who is another guy who gave us the toughness we currently lack. Even Jerebko would help. We are wicked soft now. While Jeff Green has talent, he doesn't rebound or play consistently tough D, and often disappears during games. He actually should be a lot better player based on his ability, but something seems to be missing, which is probably why he has bounced around the league.

2. It's not about who we get as much as something rather than nothing. OKC didn't want to lose Russ, but they got something. They cashed in.

3. Donovan is untouchable. He is the face of the franchise and unlike any young player we have ever had.

This conversation is pretty stupid imo. What are we going to do add another scorer to this lineup of good individual but completely disconnected scorers. He doesn’t need the ball to have an imprint on the game... DM needs to learn how to make others better and play smarter.

Rudy is offensively limited but still does good things... I think we need less traditional pick and roll... put him in the dunkers spot more often so the big has to come all the way over to help and the pass is a simple drop off.

The guys are completely disconnected right now... the way this team was supposed to be successful is the opposite of what we are getting. It starts with DM and Conley... we also needs Joe to figure out what the hell is wrong.

Quin isn’t on the hot seat but he’s had pretty easy personalities to manage and has had years of offenses that were bad... tough to blame it on the parts now... just please figure it out sooner than later so we don’t have to keep having these conversations.

The only reason I would consider trading him is the massive payday coming up. It could be like 60 million+ per year from what I remember. Thats too much.

Just hope Rudy will give a discount
