Trade idea

With all due respect, those players you mentioned don't have the pedigree that MKG have. Sene and Bismack couldn't even sniff the top ten in this draft let alone top 5, and whiteside was a second rounder. MKG is not just liked by jazzfanz, but by gm's, scouts, coaches, and the media.

MKG looks to be an elite defender, but offensively his tools are limited. People have compared him to Shawn Marion and Gerald Wallace. Nice player, but not a top 3 or 4 pick in my book, even if he has pedigree, whatever that means.

If you look in hindsight, Shawn Marion was a top 3-4 pick his year. Shawn Marion is awesome. The problem is that we're always expecting somebody huge in top 3-4, which happens, but don't neglect the Marions. MKG has a lot of intangibles, in my opinion, that elevate him much more over a Marion, despite Marion being awesome. I'd certainly take Marion top 3-4, so I'd certainly take MKG in that range.

I admit that I haven't seen a ton of MKG playing, but I don't see Marion athleticism.

MKG will be good on any team, period. Having said that, I would rather have a great PG or an elite shooting SF for this team.

I think Kapono's available.

You guys are focusing too much on MKG at #2 and not enough on the Jazz. If you don't think MKG is worthy of the #2 then trade down and take in the 5-6 range while grabbing another asset. And you're insane if you think professional GMs and scouts are missing the Ronnie Brewerness that your armchair eyes see in MKG. It's overblown on here how wrong the industry can be on draft day. GMs know when they're taking a gamble on a guy and when they are not. There's a reason you hear words like project, upside, raw talent, and potential so frequently on draft day. MKG isn't a project.

MKG isn't a project.
dude will be good, and if the Jazz were committed to moving Al, he could be a solid contributor on the Jazz. He's the type of player who tilts the floor with his energy and physicality. His shot is completely broken though.

If the Jazz could move Jefferson and Harris (and even Millsap), pick up MKG, Lillard/Machado and Nash, and commit to playing tough, tight D and running the floor hard...

Do you see him as an Iguodala then? I have a hard time justifying passing on a young Iggy with this team. If we are going the Detroit model then we need at least one Iggy.
