Trade ideas

It would be interesting what players would be included. If you could get keegan Murray in the trade and or Kevin Huerter. As opposed to swaps or something.
They love Keegan. I think the players would likely either be Barnes (who you could flip for something solid) or just salary fodder.

Locke is talking about our pick protections for the OKC pick and stuff and I want to kill myself.

In what way? (Not the kill yourself part)
Just trying to explain something he doesn’t understand. Saying things that aren’t really relevant. Like he says we can’t trade a pick until 2028 which is fine but you just have to structure it as 2 years after the OKC pick is paid… but it’s just not relevant anymore. Like what trade does it hinder when we have 7 firsts from other teams?

Any time he talks trades, cba, or really technical stuff it drives me nuts how much he gets wrong but states it as fact.

There's really no reason to trade Lauri if he's willing to extend. We have demonstrated we can be bad enough with him. If the offer is overwhelming then I think you have to do it. It would have to be like the level of trade we got for Don/Rudy.

I agree basically. Especially this year. I just don't want to be like the 7th or 8th best team for purposes of the 2025 draft and I could see some of the young guys leveling up to a point we are on the play in fringe. I also think 3 straight years of finishing 5th - 9th ish would lead to Lauri starting to look around. He'd still have tremendous value BUT we really gonna half *** a tank for Wemby AND Flagg?

If it was an OKC deal I could see us getting 4 picks plus our pick back (so really 5 kind of) and grabbing like Ousmane Dieng plus Bertans. That's the line where I strongly consider it this year. I would want it to be language where we get the best pick of the Hou, OKC, LAC pick this year for one of the picks. I don't want 3 picks in this year's draft but if you did a deal that way you could almost ensure you get two lotto picks this year (****** draft but its a lotto pick at least).

Can Lauri do that?

I mean it's entirely context dependent of course, but it's tough to call Lauri a wing when he can't dribble or pass at an average starter wing level
On the Kings... yeah no problem. Fox/Sabonis obviously have the ball a lot. Keegan can do a little more. I mean if they are swapping Barnes or Keegan for Lauri they aren't giving up like PG for Lauri. It would just be a much better version of what they have now.

The good news if we put Lauri on the market is that there are a bunch of teams that would put in a strong offer but you can almost guarantee that the thunder would come in with a godfather offer to beat it. Not only is Lauri a great fit with them and instantly jumps them to the top of the west but it could be just as important to block opposing teams from getting Lauri as well.

Without knowing what every team could offer fully, it seems like the Thunder might have fallen off as the Godfather team when the Josh Giddey stuff happened.

.

Not to mention Houston being on the fast track to a respectable (maybe soon good) team has severely dampened OKC's chest of picks. Seguin is HIM.

Fun trade question for anyone willing to do the leg work:

Who owns the best pick over the next 3 years? Qualifications being it has to be another team's pick, not their own.

I feel like prior to the season starting, we would have said OKC's Houston picks, but now I'm not sure.

It's OKC's picks and it's not close. The pure volume and diversity of them is crazy. I think the real prize is the 2026 clipper pick and the 27 clipper pick swap. Those 2 could be Celtics/nets type of gold and any Lauri deal to OKC would have to include those.

Houston owns Brooklyn’s 2026 unprotected 1st

Pelicans own Lakers 2024 unprotected 1st with the right to delay until 2025

Nets own the Suns 2025 unprotected 1st

Jazz own the Cavaliers and Timberwolves 2025 unprotected 1sts

Spurs own the Hawks 2025 unprotected 1st

Thunder own the Clippers 2026 unprotected 1st

Hard to say but all of these could be pretty juicy.

Out of those I would probably says Clippers 2026, and probably by a huge margin.

The Lakers pick this year with the option is also great.
