Burke is a lame duck rotation player. He is minus on both sides of the court. If his contract helps a deal get done great. Realistically he either accepts an injury insurance spot or we let him test FA.

If you did not see improvement in Burkes defense after he got benched and changed his effort level a lot on defense then you either did not watch the games towards the end of the season or your blind with hatred towards Burke.

i thought he tried harder no doubt. It's just that he still wasn't very good. Slowish and short isn't a good combination unfortunately. It's a pity, I really like his attitude.

The Jazz gave Corbin more time as head coach than Burke has had in the league. Let's see what he's got this year and if he's trash still, ship him out for whatever they can get back before the deadline. He's still on a rookie contract so it's not like he's handcuffing the Jazz. Obviously Snyder is calling all the shots on the court, thus Exum was inserted as starter despite not being "ready" last year. He's the future, and as unfortunate as it is to admit - Burke isn't. I was a huge advocate for trading up to get him, and have been a big supporter of his through his tough rookie and second year. But I'm willing to admit we all missed. DISCLAIMER: If he is a knockdown shooter this year as he was in college, than I reserve the right to say I told you so to all the haters.

I wouldn't read a lot into the Jazz bringing Neto and Pleiss over. The Jazz are now a development team and feel that they can develop both players better than what they are getting in other leagues. For those assets to have value, they probably felt it was better to have them in house before they aged even further. Unless they really jump out during preseason, both will be getting a lot of minutes on the farm team to access their skills. It wouldn't surprise me if Neto never plays meaningful minutes for the Jazz, although it would be great for the team and his value if he beats the odds. I'm very interested to see Trey play in a role where he is not relied on as a "spark from the bench." He needs to be Howard Eisley. If he can be that, the pick was a success. If not, I think Cotton can fill that role. . .

Statistically he was improved by a substantive margin defensively in the months of February, March and April. The eye test confirmed this as well.

Burke is short, he is not really all that slow and unathletic like this board makes him out to be.

All that is missing from Trey Burkes ability to be a good backup PG is consistency especially in making shots. His defense was fine at the end of the season. It seems worth it for the Jazz to give him a chance to show that consistently. If he doesnt improve (which seems unlikely) then dump him and we have risked nothing in letting him develop more.

It took Hayward until his 5th season to really start playing consistently (He hopefully will improve more in this area). A large portion of this board didnt want Haywards max contract matched, which ended up being a great decision. It would be wasteful and a poor decision to give up on Burke especially for nothing or little.

I trust Quin can help develop Burke into a solid back. Unless he nets us a solid player its silly to trade him.

I'm sure DL offered EVERY team in the 1-11 spots the #12 pick + Burke plus pick(s) to move up. Boston offered the kitchen sink and no one bit.

The draft unfortunately had a definite break at #11. There were minor surprises in terms of players dropping or rising a couple of spots within that group, but pretty much every mock had the same players going 1-11.

I tend to agree regarding Burke's athleticism. However, I believe the big stumbling block to his future success is his attitude and willingness to pass the bleepin' ball. If he can "unlearn" his hero ball tendencies, then I think he could become a good NBA player (not great). Trouble is that so far there is no indication that he will.

Sorry, he is slow and unathletic. When did he last dunk the ball? When did he last take an outlet pass in traffic and zoom ahead for a nice easy layup? For that matter, when did he last run a nice fast break? When did he last push the pace? Unless he shoots really really well, his days in the NBA are numbered, except maybe as a little impact backup or 3rd pg somewhere.

When was the last time Chris Paul dunked the ball, or Mike Conley. As far as all those other questions watch his highlight reel from last year and you'll see him blow by people. He's not Rose or even Lawson, but the idea that's he's a bottom tier athlete is absurb.

He never freaking "blows by people", he can rarely get around the big on a switched pick and roll. He is a bottom tier athlete for NBA PGs.

PS: you answered none of my questions. Matters not if Paul or Conley can dunk, the issue was whether he is athletic. Dunking is one of the key indicators of athleticism. How does he do running, if ever, a fast break? Pushing the pace?
