Just go watch Rudy highlights from the recent Olympics. The dude can do *some* damage in the post when getting him the ball isnt an afterthought.

Everyone has to commit to the play. Rudy has to fight to hold position because he trusts the guys will actually throw it... he has to risk a 3 second call by hanging around long enough. The guard has to see it and throw it on time or the defender can sneak around. It is fairly easy if everyone is on the same page, but impossible if not everyone is committed to it.

It was clear there was no attempt to do this in season or in the playoffs so when it happens it makes sense it isn't great. It hardly ever happened though. Then Quin gave him a post up like that is the same thing... FOH Quin.

Signing Yuta is a must imo.

Agree... he's a perfect guy to gamble on... I think he only gets minimum offers and at worst is a replacement level wing. I do think there is more there. I think Quin would love him.

Yeah but if you watch the Olympics highlights, the passes are crisp, on-time, and on point. With the Jazz everything was so delayed this year. It was really frustrating to watch us become the James Harden Houston Rockets-lite.

Exactly. And it's important to note that next summer, Don still has two years left AND a player option year. So technically, he could still have three years on that contract for the new team.

A player option is never a good thing for a team, it's always negative. If Mitchell looks great and is worth the money, he'll opt out, if he plays bad and is overpaid (or injured), he stays.

Roster building centered around the all-star game is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I'm hoping maybe Ainge will be able to talk some sense into Ryan Smith.

Exactly what I am saying... We never intended to throw him that pass when it should have been a priority. If you are decisive and throw it when its there it works. It felt like Rudy was the only one who thought they might throw it... Mike/Donovan never really tried much at all.

I was talking about the team he is traded to. Many times, opposing teams will only do the deal if the player commits to the player option year at the end of their contract.

So if we traded in two years, he actually could be traded on a 2 year deal.

It doesn't matter really though. If he wants to go he's gone if he wants to stay he's staying. I'm not really worried about his value.

Commiting to the option can only be done the final year, can it not? So if we trade him next year, it's a 2 year deal, they can't force it to be 3. But I agree that he can be traded on essentially a 2 year deal in 2 years, although then Donovan gets to decide.

At not point at all did I use this as a defense of Donovan. It's a video to show play style.

When Don is driving into the paint and Rudy is down there, what the **** is Don supposed to do if he can't hit the miracle lob to Rudy? Just back it out every time Rudy is down there clogging the space unable to do **** because he can't post up?

Don hit 3 slip screen assists (2 to House and 1 to Royce). Rudy is a lob threat and not a slip screen threat at all. Don is a finisher at the rim. They don't mesh well together. Rudy needs a Lonzo, Trae, Chris Paul type. Don needs an inside/outside big man.

It's not a knock or credit to either. It's just how they are built. My video is about style.

You can't be serious with using that video for anything. It is a highlight video that isn't even impressive. Mitchell has his strengths and weaknesses. Right now his weaknesses are starting to outnumber his strengths because his defense is approaching all time bad level and he is extremely selfish when he goes into hero mode. At the same time you are correct that this team isn't built well around Donovan. This is just poorly constructed team altogether and it has been that way for years. It started with Rubio and Favors in the starting lineup together and ended with the worst perimeter defensive team imaginable. It is crazy how badly jazz management has handled the last 4 years when it comes to actually building a complete basketball team.

I think I prefer to break it up now... but the logic of keeping those two together another year and then trading both and doing a full rebuild is not bad at all. Its literally been in my signature.

If by some miracle the get a guy like Deni Avdija and he improves his shooting and you find a way to get one more solid wing... then maybe you have something. Maybe they sign a guy from the bargain bin like @Saint Cy of JFC 's favorite Yuta Wantanbe and he puts it all together like Gary Payton. That is a better bet then "hey maybe we trade one of our all-stars and somehow improve".

I think it also means if things go south in season they won't be afraid to wrap it up early... say there is an injury to one of the guys.

The reasoning being the all-star game is deeeeepppplllllyyyyy troubling. Thats some Sacramento Kings ****.

The thing is... are we risking their value to drop even more with yet another failed playoff run and Rudy being a year older? I understand us making one final attempt to make it work, though... It's probably worth it. It's good that we have the 2024 pick at least partially protected in case we decide to trade both Mitchell and Gobert in 2023 I guess...

Oh I'm team tank and been on that corner for sure. Team keep them both is my second option and it is understandable... if the purpose is the AS game then I'm team "we effed anyway so do whatever I guess". There is way more downside potential for the value of those guys.

The option of - definitely trading Rudy to build everything around Donovan so he can request a trade in a year - is the bad option.

The other side of this new momentum is that it may push offers higher to a point where they are acceptable to Ryan and he may see the logic of putting the trade rumors behind us so the AS game isn't just a rumorfest. CAA may get desperate.

I think if you reconfigure things and the guys feel it is a temporary situation that it may remove pressure and maybe they don't **** the bed every fourth quarter..,. go back to having less expectations and being the under dog.
