One team to watch might be OKC. They are getting to a point where they need someone to pair with SGA and need to start consolidating or cashing in picks.

I'd be hoping to draft a star and less worried about getting a guy with star potential. If leaving RJ out of the deal has the effect that leaving McDaniels out did then I prefer that route. We got a lot of extra stuff because Minny said McDaniels was untouhable.

I get both sides. I just think in today's NBA you kind of have to reset every 8 years or so unless you have a top 10 guy who is very committed to your franchise. Obviously I dont think Don is that guy, so I want the rebuild, but if you squint your eyes hard enough you can probably convince yourself.

I get it though. Stockton/Malone were largely a treadmill team until they got to the Finals later in their careers. Same with Dirk/Mavs. So there is precedent for having a talented player, having high hopes early in their careers, failing, then rebuilding around them. It doesnt have to be a constant upward trajectory that you hit the eject button at a few years of stagnation/decline.
 
So what about this construction... Don to Miami, Conley (or Bev), Herro, Robinson to LA, Westbrook, Jovic, and Yurtseven to Utah with 3 Miami FRPs and 3 picks swaps, LA sends 27/29 FRPs unprotected and a swap in 28 (we can swap either our pick, Miami's, or Minny's).

Westbrook is waived. We have infinity cap space next year and get 5 firsts and 4 pick swaps with a couple decent prospects. We can then do other deals with Bev, Bogey, JC that allow us to take on some salary to get better prospects/draft capital.

The Cavaliers wouldn't appear to have a need for an additional point guard, and it seems unlikely that Conley would be the returning player Cleveland would prioritize if talks ever gained legitimate traction.

This is still very strange to me. I get why Cleveland doesnt want him, they have Garland. Sexton doesnt really make sense next to Garland long term.

But no one seems to be very interested. I certainly dont like him that much, but if we got him I would probably start a "Collin Will be Better than Don" thread.

Would he simply be like 15-18 millions per year, Conley's contract, and one of the late first rounders we own? Is that possible under sign and trade? What would his contract have to come out to to be included in a S&T for Conley?
