Heat picks are almost always going to be in the 20s since they are an elite organization and never tank.

Donovan can wish whatever the **** he wants but it should matter not a lick as to how it determines a trade outcome.

Correct though if they have limited cap flexibility and we nab their picks unprotected you may snag a late lotto one year. The key is getting the crown jewel asset which would be #4.

• Said he is worried that the league doesnt value our assets as much as we would hope because Ainge wasnt able to get any deal done at the deadline when it was a clear a deal was really needed
• Says he doesnt think Utah can let players expire with them, they have to get value at the end of their contract
• Says Utah needs to rebuild the locker room, add talent, and add draft capital (literally the only way to do this is to tank lmao)
• He says DA has been pretty engaged/involved
  • He doesnt seem to really know what the dynamic is tho
• Locke thinks Niang/Favors were bigger locker-room leaders than Ingles.
  • Kind of made it seem like Ingles is kind of moody, not as great in the locker-room as fans would expect
• Locke doesnt think highly of Don's leadership ability. Basically said he's too young and rich, with too many voices in his ear. He's going through growing pains of being young/rich/famous basically.

This will be a thread of the year candidate if our biggest trade is sending Gay for a second round pick.

You may have said this as a joke, but it’s a pie-the-sky trade and it’d be lit if we could get something like that done. And I’ll repeat again that it would have been an even better deal if the top brass weren’t so short sighted as to sign up for being on the hook for NAW’s $5M.

He has been a little more pro-tank rebuild without being pro-tank rebuild... its been more suble.

One thing annoying that he and others say... "Utah can't build through free agency so they only have two ways to build" not true really. We have to draft our all-stars and superstars... which is something like 75% of the NBA teams have to do. We can get high quality starters and even fringe all-stars. Only like 4-5 markets sign the mega stars in FA. We can trade for those stars too but that requires us using our biggest resource... draft picks.

We could have done better in FA if we had actually drafted better. Theoretically grabbing some centers in FA might be the best way to use those exceptions if you get the right guys... but all your draft assets have to be used on wings and the guys you can't get for 9-10M. We blew all our draft capital looking for centers and trading for pgs. Then ended up with one that is a little small to pair with our perimeter star.

Locke's last few days have been good but a little bit too much Ainge ***-kissing. You'd think he had never missed or messed up. He's good and most of his mistakes were well thought out... unlike ours.

The reality is that there isn’t **** that can be done. I know this fuels the “tear it down” folks, but I really wish our FO had a modicum of ability to do some very basic forecasting into the future. The second we knew Donovan was a player early in the rookie year, they needed to act but we “kept the powder dry.” The past few years we pretended we had way more runway than we did and being absolutely handcuffed with where we stand now was completely predictable. By all accounts, we’re rolling into another Quin year and basically seeing our runway collapse and not responding, acting like we’re not headed through that fence and into the parking structure.

Listened to a couple Hornets pods over the last few days. I don’t think that PJ would be part of the trade for Rudy… I think they are building around Ball, Miles, and PJ. I think you could get Rozier, McDaniels, 13, 15 and maybe a future pick… likely need to take plumlee back and might be able to work a Gay salary dump in there.

I think PJ is really good and might have another step in his growth. I like him more than John Collins and I think he could be extended at a much lower price. If they had Rudy, Ball, Bridges, Washington I think they have the makings of something that could be quite good.

Not sure he’s off the table but local people give you a read into how valued players are and I thought it was worth mentioning.

I guess we all know all of this (may be not the Joe moody thing....)
To let players expire and to let them go for nothing has been the rule for the Jazz. That's a killer.
Deron`s trade was a lot of years ago, and it was low sale.
Rudy and Don will be the same.
They used to be at peak value. Now...
They will have to trade them if they want to start a new age of sustainable good Jazz basketball.
Unless, of course, Ainge can fool some guys out there.
