Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Would you do something like this?
Fo sho... though I think it favors Knicks a smidge because I think Randle's deal is pretty negative. Its fair for us so I don't care too much about the Lakers. I could see them wanting Bev or JC or Vando and wanting no Randle.

I’ve seen enough of this general outline to say the following to everyone.

Stop trying to help the Knicks so much. Randle is the key to them being dog ****. Him staying in NY to the best of our ability is central to the plan:

-he is bad salary
-he is a locker room cancer
-he doesn’t make anyone around him better
-he prefers the mid-range, isn’t particularly good there, and puts blinders on in the high-post
-he isn’t really a PnR player
-he is not a spacer and can go on horrendous shooting streaks

Mitchell Robinson also is a bad screen setter. Donovan is gonna be in for a rude awakening when he has no lane and no one setting good screens. It’s perfect.

Aside from the obvious talent gap between Mitchell and Curry, both on offense and defense, they play nothing alike. If Mitchell had the same zeal in playing off-ball, running a ****-ton more than any other PG on offense and didn't mind being the primary beneficiary of those efforts, he too could be an All-NBA player.

I suspect you get no deal if the Knicks feel like they have no path to improvement. They may be thirsty for DM, but I'm not counting on them being stupid. The reports seem to indicate that they're independently smart enough to want to move on from Randle if they get Mitchell.

The reports are from a guy that said the Don trade was basically done a week ago or whatever. They also may want to move on from Randle and are smart enough to know its a good idea, but that doesn't mean another team will bite. Especially not with compensation. I saw reports earlier in the offseason that they weren't going to trade him at his lowest value... in part because it would require some assets.

Their first step needs to be to get Don... you can figure out the rest later. We don't have to solve all their problems. If they want our star they need to pay... that price will hurt their ability to improve beyond that... but their current path is less bright without Donovan. Randle is their problem to solve. If we take him it is because we got like 7/8 firsts and they paid a "randle" tax to do so.
