Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

What if… we did a version of both? Mike/JC/KO to LA. Beasley Vando to NY. Only take one pick back from the Lakers….

Like o said yesterday… I’d tell both teams we have our hands in a lot of deals… we need their best offer today and we will pick one… with how the NY deal went down no one will call DAs bluff if they really want the deal.

This is the scenario I'm hoping for, and it doesn't seem very far fetched. I think at least one of the deals will get done.

The Finns have the highest % of the population willing to defend the country whatever it takes in Europe (perhaps the world). I'm pretty sure Lauri is no different. But the military service for top athletes is just basic boot camp, shooting practice etc. The only con is that it takes up time, six months - which doesn't fit into any NBA players' schedule. (That's why almost all the future pros try to get it of the way right when they hit 18)
I guess he can wait until he is past his prime at this point? No sense in forfeiting his next contract doing a mandatory service that doesn't actually require anything from him besides time anyway no?
I am kind of surprised Finns don't offer exceptions for high profile individuals that represent their country in different ways. Not even counting the obvious ability to be recognizable,he would stand out like a sore thumb if he actually had to join the front in any kind of skirmish let alone war. I guess he will just be carted around like a hero to motivate the rest?

Ideally, they can get a deal with both the Lakers and Knicks that moves a lot of players that are probably not in the long term plans for valuable assets.

If they can’t do that, I’d like to see them offer the Lakers a chance to upgrade their depth -

Clarkson, Beasley, Olynyk and Gay for Westbrook, Christie, Gabriel, Brown and swap their Pels/Lakers pick for our Nets/76ers pick this year.

We get better draft position - possibly significantly better - this year, a couple of young guys to test drive and see if they have a long-term fit, something for JC before he hits free agency and get off Rudy Gay’s $6 million next year plus a bunch of cap space that would be tied up in all of our guys on 2 year contracts.

That is a long-*** MacMahon article. What are the trades?
Conley, Beasley, stuff for Westbrook and 2 picks (doubt we get two picks)

Beasley/Vando for Fournier Toppin and a pick or picks - My guess is if it is picks plural it is Det and Was protected picks. If it is one pick I'd bet its Ny or Dallas pick this year... and we might move one of our other picks on draft night or do a move up deal.

I would do the Westbrook one if we could only do one deal. Its the tank maneuver... the league won't complain cuz it helps bron and the Lakers be competitive... Hell the league office might kick in a compensatory pick for being team players.

It’s on the webz so it’s as good as true. Pull the trigger.

He has to get it sorted, one way or another, before he turns 30. "No exceptions" is kinda the point. No "bone spurs" or "I'm rich". 70 % of men do military service, most of the rest a sort of civil service (which is twice as long) - and more and more women do military service voluntarily (for practically no pay).

IF (and that's not gonna happen) there would be any type of conflict, I'm sure Lauri (or any such individual) would not be called up to serve in any military capacity. Instead the expectation would be he'd be lobbying Washington for billions in aid, just like the Ukrainians are now.

Looking at past years, there's been like 4-5 future NHL players each year that have got it sorted at the first chance. But the NBA obviously works differently and Lauri couldn't afford to spend another year in Finland. The NHL picks everyone at 18 and then sign them a year, two, three after that from Europe.
