Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I think that Lakers deal is dead now tbh, there's no reason for us to give up three guys without getting draft picks back, no reason for the Wolves to do a Conley/Russell swap if they don't get a sweetener.
There’s definitely reason for the Wolves to do it without a sweetener - if they lose him as a UFA (seems likely) they can’t replace him

There is some middle ground we can work... one really good pick is worth like 2-3 protected picks we'd get by doing separate deals... and I doubt we would honestly get that without some ****** salary coming our way.

There's always a possibility they could swing a trade for Lowry, FVV, or another veteran PG they might value higher.

Youre my guy but you keep acting like a single unprotected Lakers pick HAS to be a top 3...........it could very easily be a 9th pick. There is risk thats very real on that.

I agree, I think it's time to tank so we need to make a move. Sounds like we were good with the deal, Minny pulled out, Lakers are hesitant to take on Russ deal

There are two reasons to do any trade with the Lakers:

1. Get worse this year to improve our pick
2. Get the Laker's PICKS, not pick. That can come in the form of unprotected picks, with at most a top 1 protected pick (but why tempt the league), and/or unprotected pick swaps

Nothing else REALLY matters outside of keeping our top 3 guys.

Dallas would have to be interested in taking him back though.
If Kyrie wants to go they should want to do a sign and trade... Conley and a first or something else is not the worst thing in the world. They gonna say no and Kyrie walks for nothing or signs the MLE for a year... or sign a pissed off Kyrie to a max deal. FA have a way of bullying their way to their destination.

They could also take the roster to bare bones and hope Kyrie will accept less than the max.

If the hold up is draft compensation to the Wolves, are they wanting some protections back? Or some picks back from the Jazz? If so, this deal is dead. Why would we trade 3 guys to get 1 - 2 picks / swaps so we can send the Wolves a pick? Makes no sense.

The wolves can grab a second from the Lakers for all I care. Or heck, I would give them a second to lock in the deal contingent on them releasing all protections on the 2029 pick. ;)

Its not just where it could land... getting unprotected picks is huge in trades as there is certainty on when they will convey and upside. It gets a heavy premium.

Also lol on top 3 and 9th... that's funny.
