Trades: What are we looking for ideally?

A combo guard or just a sg? I'd say a combo as Hood and Hayward can play the 2 offensively and Burks could be back in six weeks.
A big who's an upgrade from Booker? Not too expensive? However, if more costly, would a contract that would end after the 16-17 season work?

Does this sound about right? If so, who the hell are we shipping out? Booker? Are we willing to be a team with 14 ******* and Gobert? If not him, who? We'd need to ship multiple players most likely.

Please discuss here.

We do not make trades! We wait for offer season to do sign and trades with Burke Burks and ONE MILLION second round and first draft picks.

You cannot trade asset mid-season for expiring contracts. What you are thinking?

Anyone with a brain? Please.

I guess what I'm curious about is what team has both an upgrade over Booker for a big AND a guard who we could both acquire ina trade that would work via the CBA.

I would much rather have a pure point guard than a combo guard. A guy who can run the offense, make things happen on the break and can pass well. Combo guards tend to be less-than-stellar when it comes to passing and making plays. If we want a combo guard then we should do what I said yesterday and just sign Wroten.

I wouldn't mind a Booker upgrade, either. Of course, we'll probably draft a PG or a banger-type PF this year. I don't think we'll draft a SF - maybe a SG if there's someone on the board like Hield (and DL loves him). I think DL is going to hold onto Withey to back up Booker and Snyder will play Favors at center if Gobert is out.

Id like an upgrade over Booker, Celtics have a glut of bigs but Im not really bowled over about anyone in particular there, Rockets would they be up for trading Jones?Rockets are over cap hopefully would let him go but I think wishful thinking on my part
In reality I think we are more likely to take a salary dump and a pick from another team than upgrade talent at say PG/PF etc or we'll stay put.
I do like what Withey gives he deserves more mins, definitely pleasant surprise of the team at the moment (for what he's being paid)

I haven't given up on this season but I'm not very optimistic either.I think Utah has to stay the course. They can't give away their young talent only to watch them produce for another team like Kanter is.
I like Lyles but I would want to see the Jazz go after Dario Saric who says he is definitely coming to the NBA next year. He's ready for the NBA and to play at a high level right away.
Why might he be available .....Ben Simmons .Ben Simmons will be available for the 1st pick in the draft and Philadelphia has the best chance for him with the W/L record they have. They also by all reports have Joel Embiid coming along nicely ,so they could possibly have Embiid,Noel and Okafor to go with Simmons.
The Jazz can use a 6'10 PF who can play the perimeter ,rebound and lead the break.
Who do you give up ....you give up young talent for young talent.Either Hood or Burks ,Burke or Neto .....Philadelphia is loaded up front ,they need good guards.

I don't think a Booker upgrade is happening unless a bargain comes to the table. He has gotten better as the season has moved along.

I think the Rockets have KJ and Terrence Jones, so they'd be a candidate with some matching assets.
The Kings have Collison and Casspi (who I wanted to sign and ended up signing for next to nothing) who would help. They aren't selling those guys though... they went all in and I doubt they turn face now.
Suns have Goodwin and Teletovic/Leuer.
Magic have Nicholson and CJ Watson.

We could match salaries for any of those deals pretty easily without giving up a meaningful player. Other than the Kings deal though and I am not giving up any kind of meaningful future asset for those deals.

Another low post defender. Rudy is great but without him our interior defense is awful. Statistically I don't have the stats to back up my claim, but it seems like teams game plans have been to attack us at the rim. I was at the Philly game and me and the guy next to me were saying how that's the only reason they were even close to us.

The guy doesn't even have to be a big name or score a lot. Just protect the paint while Rudy is hurt, or sitting on the bench. Withey is ok, but not great by any means.

I put this in the general sports section but what about Holiday (10.6M) and Cunningham (2.85M) for Booker (4.78M) and Pleiss (2.9M).

That's 13.45M in and 7.68M out or a net of about 5.77M in. I believe the cap is at 70M and we're currently at 61.57M so it would work under the CBA or at least I think it would.

So why would New Orleans do it? They're 10-21, good for the fourth worst record in the entire league. It sheds them of about 10M more next summer and gives them a chance to better build around Anthony Davis. We do it because it adds obvious depth. I'd normally think we'd have to add a draft pick back but to simply free New Orleans of all that salary may be worth it to them.

Thoughts?

FWIW, Cunningham is shooting 35% on 1.4 threes per game this season and could maybe play a little stretch 4 for us at times.

John Henson? The Bucks suck. Cheap contract.

Edit: Nevermind, ****ty source. Bad contract.

Koufos. The contract is north of 8M for a couple more years but he'd be a realy solid 3rd big. Not sure what we'd have to give up to get him.

I'd take Casspi, Teletovic, Leuer. All stretch bigs that shoot 40%+ from 3. We need scorers on this team. Casspi went off for 36 pts the other night...

Aren't Casspi and T more of threes though really?

Casspi has been more of a 3 but he's 6'10 and rebounds well. Plays combo forward a lot. Probably can't hold his position in the post though.

You really want to tie up that kind of cap space for a guy who won't move the needle more than maybe two wins? Every name you've dumped into this trash bin of a thread is not worth the time. What's your obsession with getting rid of Booker anyway?

I'm sticking with the Brandon Knight trade I suggested a few weeks back. He'd be a good fit here. Phoenix is falling apart. They just fired two assistant coaches; Bledsoe is injured; and there are reports that there are problems between Knight and Bledsoe in the locker room.
